Throat obstruction and blockage are caused by the stagnation of Spleen and Lung Qi, the accumulation of wind-toxin, which invades the meridians internally and attacks the throat externally. The Foot-Taiyang Bladder meridian ascends through the diaphragm and runs alongside the pharynx; the larynx is the passage for Lung Qi to communicate. Therefore, when there is stagnant heat in the Spleen and Lungs, it leads to throat obstruction. After a Shanghan (Cold Damage) disease, if residual toxins remain unexhausted and attack the throat upwards, it also causes obstruction and blockage.
