The condition known as "Blowing Milk" (Chui Nai) after childbirth occurs when the infant suddenly falls asleep while nursing, causing obstructed breathing and preventing timely milk drainage. The milk accumulates internally, leading to swelling, hardness, blockage, and obstruction. The flow of fluids in the milk ducts is blocked, resulting in putrefaction, condensation, and pain. There are also cases without itching or pain, but with swelling and hardness like stone, also named "Blowing Milk". If not treated urgently, severe swelling may develop into an abscess (Yong). Postpartum Blowing Milk requires urgent treatment; otherwise, the formation of an abscess may lead to death. One should quickly administer Zaojiao San (Gleditsia Sinensis Powder), apply Gualou San (Trichosanthes Powder) externally, and massage with Tiannanxing San (Arisaema Cum Bile Powder) by hand until it dissipates. (From *Daquan Liangfang*)
The General Discussion states: Spontaneous leakage of breast milk after childbirth is caused by body deficiency. It is advisable to take tonifying medicines to stop it. If there is distension and acute pain after nursing, apply warm cloth compresses. *Chanbao* contains this discussion but provides no formula for treatment. If these symptoms occur, treating with Loulu San (Radix Euphorbiae Humifusae Powder) is sufficient. There are also cases of spontaneous milk leakage before delivery, called "Ru Qi" (Breast Weeping); children born in such cases often fail to survive. This topic has not been discussed in medical classics.
