Treats all men and women suffering from sudden acute consumption, sudden hemoptysis or hematemesis, becoming emaciated and ghost-like within days, with dull eyes and all signs of consumption. Also treats chronic consumption where Heart and Lung are invaded by pathogens, causing wheezing/cough and hemoptysis. One should combine three formulas to treat: first Heart medicine, then Lung medicine, finally Kidney medicine, to clear the source and restore True Qi.
First Formula (Heart Medicine): Clears fire toxicity.
Second Formula (Lung Medicine): Protects Metal Qi and removes disease.
Third Formula (Kidney Medicine): Clears source and restores True Qi.
Take Heart medicine after noon meal. Take Lung medicine after evening meal. Adjust based on pulse (if Lung pulse large, take Lung med; if Heart pulse large, take Heart med). After several days, when pathogen weakens, take Kidney medicine to root out disease. Do not use only one formula alone; use all three for complete effect.
First Formula (from *Huming Fang*): Treats excessive Heart Fire melting Metal, causing wheezing/cough, counterflow of Qi/Blood, and hemoptysis/epistaxis.
Ingredients: Gan Song (Nardostachyos Radix et Rhizoma), Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, de-core), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, de-radicle), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, de-root), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Xi Jiao (Rhino Horn), Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus, de-core), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, each 1 fen), Tian Ling Gai (Calvaria Humana, butter-fried), Bie Jia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, vinegar-fried, each half zhu). Fine powder. Take 2.5 qian, decoct in one zhan water for one boil, strain while hot, mix, and take freely after resting post-meal or at lunch. If large bowel has deficient heat, take following formula.
Second Formula (from *Huming Fang*): Promotes Qi transformation and Blood generation, for hemoptysis.
Ingredients: Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 4 zhu), Bie Jia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, de-skirt...), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, de-root, each half zhu), Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus, de-core), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Qian Hu (Peucedani Radix, de-radicle), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix... 2 liang). Prepare as...
Third Formula (from *Huming Fang*): Clears disease source to restore True Qi. Use to resolve Kidney pathogens, restore True Qi, and secure Yuan... Dan. If large bowel is hot... Bi... Xu Duan (Dipsaci Radix), Ba Ji (Morindae Officinalis Radix, de-core), Fu Ling (Poria), Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Tian Ling Gai (Calvaria Humana, butter-fried until black), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Bie Jia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum... small amount).
