Luo Li (Scrofula) is a condition caused by the stagnation and obstruction of wind-heat toxic pathogens in the chest and diaphragm, preventing their free circulation. These pathogens then bind to the Liver. Since the Liver governs the sinews, this leads to the accumulation and nodular swelling of the sinews. This disease mostly occurs between the neck and axilla, floating within the sinew and skin layers, presenting as multiple connected tubercles of varying sizes. At the initial stage, due to heat-toxin swelling and knotting, chills and fever occur.
