Luo Li (Scrofula, cervical lymph node tuberculosis) is a disease caused by wind pathogen knotting internally and heat toxin accumulating in the Liver. It results from disharmony of Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) Qi, and stagnation in the chest and diaphragm. Toxic heat fights and flows into the sinews and vessels, eventually forming masses at sites of accumulation. Initially, one feels nodular lumps along the neck, resembling a string of beads, with a sallow complexion and hot skin. If left untreated for a long time, allowing heat to steam upward, suppuration occurs. According to the *Nei Jing* (Inner Canon), when Ying Qi does not flow smoothly and reverses within the muscle tissue, it generates swelling and congestion. Essentially, reversed Ying Qi leads to blood stasis; stasis causes heat to gather and transform into pus. Luo Li follows this same principle. Internal heat knots and gathers in the Liver. The Liver governs the sinews and stores blood. If not cured for a long time, heat aggregates in the blood, causing the blood to rot and become pus. Located in the neck and axilla, the swollen nodes are connected, resembling plums or plums.
Formulas
Shenying Gao (Miraculous Response Ointment): Treats Luo Li that has already ulcerated, with wounds gradually expanding and continuous discharge of pus. Also treats all kinds of malignant sores; applying it removes necrotic tissue, and healthy flesh regenerates naturally.
Ingredients: Bletillae Rhizoma (Baiji), Ampelopsis Radix (Bailian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi, bark removed, 1 fen each), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, 1.5 liang, skin and umbilicus removed), Boswelliae Resina (Ruxiang, 0.5 liang), Branches of Sophora japonica from Southeast (Dongnan Huaizhi), Branches of Salix alba (Liuzhi, 2 branches each, 7 cun long, chopped), Minium (Qiandan, 3 liang), Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 3 fen, skin removed and crushed), Refined Oil (Qingyou, 6 liang).
