Deficiency consumption with insufficiency refers to a condition caused by contracting wind pathogens, cold damage, febrile diseases, overexertion injury, or warm malaria. After severe illness, blood and qi are reduced and depleted, and the zang-fu organs have not yet harmonized, leading to physical weakness and insufficiency of essence and qi. Once this state of weakness and insufficiency occurs, the meridians become susceptible to pathogenic invasion; depending on where the pathogens strike, various diseases may develop.
