When the Qi mechanism of the Zang-Fu organs is obstructed, and heat accumulates in the Liver Meridian, it rushes upward to the eyes, causing eye pain and stabbing pain in the eyeballs. If toxic heat aggregates severely, black nodular growths may appear on the cornea (Heijing).
