Metals absorb the essence and qi of the five directions, each possessing toxicity; it cannot be said that they are beneficial without harm. If taken appropriately, they are sufficient to cure diseases; if taken inappropriately, they only cause injury.
Furthermore, people are unaware of the dangers of taking mineral drugs (Shi Yao), leading to various misfortunes, suffering from malignant sores, scabies, plagues, and malaria year after year, with disturbed sleep and appetite, and generally disliking social interaction.

Whenever mineral drugs are used after being heated and refined, once the mineral qi erupts, it inevitably causes aversion to cold, headache, and chest oppression. The attacks occur at fixed times, resembling plague-like malaria. As long as these signs appear, provided they do not exceed limits, one can pour cold water over the body; obtaining the cooling effect will settle the symptoms. Stop consuming all cold foods, but wine must be consumed warm.
Ji Tang (Shepherd's Purse Decoction): Treats sudden onset of mineral drug toxicity. Symptoms include shivering as if cold, sometimes desire to eat, sometimes no desire to eat. If toxicity is triggered by Cinnabar or similar minerals like Zhiyingshi (Hematite/Purple Quartz), there will also be coldness and mental stuffiness, a preference for lying down, lack of strength when rising or walking, or feelings of cold. These are all caused by disharmony of the fu-organ and zang-organ qi. This decoction is the primary treatment.
Ingredients: Shepherds-purse (Qicai) (4 liang), Licorice Root (Gancao) (roasted), Indigofera Leaf/Seed (Lanzi) (1 liang each), Poria (Fuling), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin) (2 liang each), Vitex Fruit (Manjingzi) (1 sheng), Ginseng Root (Renshen) (1 fen).
Usage: Divide into three doses.
Formula for Treating Silver Toxicity
Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) (remove roots), Licorice Root (Gancao) (raw and chopped, 1 liang each). Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Add three cups of water, decoct to obtain two cups, remove dregs, and drink.
Formula for Resolving Gold and Silver Toxicity (From *Qianjin Fang*)
Take several taels of Mercury (Shuiyin) orally to expel the toxin. If the toxicity is mild, one tael is sufficient. For each tael of Mercury taken, support the patient in a sitting position and administer it, allowing it to enter the stomach and pass out immediately.
Formula for Treating Iron in the Abdomen
Scrape off the surface powder of White Charcoal (Baitan). Take three qian with well-water (Jinghua Shui). If ineffective, take again.
Formula for Resolving Gold Toxicity (From *Shenghui Fang*)
Take one cup of Duck Blood (Yaxue). Take half a cup per dose, mixed with Egg White (Jizi Qing), and swallow. If ineffective, take again.
Formula for Resolving Silver Toxicity
Take one tael of Shitingzhi (Stibnite/Mineral Drug) and grind into powder. Decoct Licorice Root (Gancao) soup, mix with the powder, and take two qian. Three times daily. Effective.
Formula for Treating Iron Toxicity (From *Shenghui Fang*)
Take Magnetite (Cishi), heat it until red-hot, quench it in Vinegar (Cu) seven times (two sevens). Use one tael. Grind finely into powder. Make pills using vinegar-boiled wheat paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills per dose.
Formula for Treating Cinnabar (Dansha) Toxicity
Take half a tael of Salt (Yan), mix evenly with cold water, let it clarify, and drink slowly.
Formula for Treating Hundred Types of Milk/Mineral Toxicity
Take one tael of Zhiyingshi (Purple Hematite/Hematite) and grind into powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with warm water. Continue for three doses.
Formula for Treating Sulfur (Huang) Toxicity
Take one tael of Asarum Root (Xixin) (remove seedlings and leaves), pound and sieve into a powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with white broth from boiled pork, and take cold. Another method: Eat white wild pigeon meat.
Formula for Treating Niter (Xiaoshi) Toxicity
Take one tael of Radix Dipsaci (Nvyuan), coarsely crush and sieve. Take two qian per dose, add one cup of water, decoct to seventy percent volume, and take warm. Time is not restricted.
Formula for Treating Yangqishi (Activated Mica) Toxicity
Take one tael of Dodder Seed (Tusizi). Do not soak in wine. Pound and sieve into fine powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with water. Three doses lead to immediate recovery.
Formula for Treating Realgar (Xionghuang) Toxicity
Take one tael of Stephania Root (Fangji), grind into fine powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with warm water. Continue for three doses. Another method: Extract juice to resolve toxicity, which also leads to recovery.
Formula for Treating Alum (Fanshi) Toxicity (From *Qianjin Fang*)
Take Bai Egao (White Goose Fat/Gauze? Context implies a substance, likely Goose Fat or a specific medicinal paste), amount unrestricted, grind finely. Take one spoonful, mixed with Soybean Juice (Dadou Zhi). Another method: Taking pure Soybean Juice alone is also good.
Heiqian Jiu (Black Lead Wine): Treats poisoning from metallic and mineral drugs.
Take one jin of Black Lead (Heiqian), melt it into liquid in a clean pot, and pour in one sheng of wine. Repeat this process more than ten times. When the wine reduces to half a sheng, remove the lead and consume it all at once. Effective. Another method...
Formula for Resolving Cinnabar Poisoning
Take Earth Slurry (Dijiang) to drink; this is the best method.
Formula for Suppressing Mineral Drug Toxicity and Resolving Various Toxins
Decoct raw Soybeans (Sheng Dadou) in water and drink the juice. Very effective.
Another Formula: Suppresses mineral drugs, removes irritability and heat, promotes urination, and stops thirst. Suitable for pediatric febrile diseases.
Soak Kudzu Root (Gegen) in water, pound and extract juice to drink. Effective.
Formula for Treating Ingestion of Metallic Minerals
Take Trichosanthes Root (Gualou Gen), dry it by roasting in Vinegar (Ku Jiu), pound and sieve. Still use vinegar to mix and spread on paper, then apply as a plaster. Excellent results.
Wujia Pi Tang (Acanthopanax Bark Decoction): Treats conditions after taking various medicinal minerals, where heat and dryness prevail, causing a tendency to lie on cold ground, and refusal to eat hot noodles, wine, etc.
Take two liang of Acanthopanax Bark (Wujia Pi), add four sheng of water, boil to obtain two and a half sheng. Take when the toxicity erupts. If symptoms persist, take again.
Treating Sudden Onset of Sulfur Toxicity with Weak Qi
Take one he of Sheep Blood (Yangxue). Effective.
Dan Congbai Tang Yao (Single Scallion White Decoction): Treats mineral toxicity latent in the body for years, which may suddenly erupt. Should be taken.
One sheng of Scallion Whites (Congbai), chopped. Add five sheng of water, boil until half remains, remove dregs, and drink. If ineffective, take again. Stop after three doses.
Treating Heat Eruption from Cinnabar and Minerals
Make a soup with Wild Rice Root (Gugen) and Crucian Carp (Jiyu). Eating three liang in one meal leads to immediate recovery.
Treating Hot Wine and Cinnabar/Mineral Toxicity
Drink River Snail Juice (Tianluo Zhi). Do not take frequently. Can resolve Arsenic (Pi) toxicity.
Formula for Treating Fatal Gold Ingestion
Take half a sheng of Chicken Manure (Jifen), squeeze out one sheng of juice, and instill/give to drink. After walking two or three li, administer again.
Matong San (Horse Dung Powder): Treats mineral toxicity.
Red Horse Dung (Chima Fen) (amount unrestricted, soak in water for three days and wash). Smelt in a clay pot until the nature is preserved (charred but not ashed). Add a small amount of Musk (Shexiang). Take one qian per dose, mixed with warm wine.
Formula for Treating Metal Poisoning, Also Resolves Various Toxins, Stops Diarrhea and Evil Heat.
Take a four-cun Golden Snake (Jinshe), roast until yellow, decoct in water, and drink. Take frequently until recovered.
Treating All Medicinal Toxins, Gu Poison, and Resolving Metallic/Mineral Toxins.
Use Stone Crab (Shixie). Grind with cooked water and take.
Treating Sulfur Toxicity
Decoct Phyllanthus Fructus (Yuganzi) juice and drink it to control its toxicity.

Resolving Gold and Silver Medicinal Toxicity

Treating Whole-Body Heat from Sulfur Intake
Take two he of Hemp Oil (Damayou), heat and cool slightly. Scoop a small amount with a copper spoon and sip. Three to five times daily. Effective.
Treating Toxicity from Sulfur Intake
Pork and duck soup, as well as Yuganzi (Phyllanthus) soup, can both resolve it.
Toxicity from Eating Alchemical Pills
Grind Poppy Seeds (Yangsuzi), remove dregs, and decoct. Mix with ginger and honey. Drink juice from Daylily (Xuancacao). Combine with Siwu Tang and Xiangsu San, one packet each, decoct together and take to resolve.
Toxicity from Cinnabar/Minerals
Peppermint (Bohe), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin) (0.5 liang each), Mirabilite (Mangxiao) (2 qian). Mix with honey, chew or apply externally.
Another Formula
Use East-growing Willow Branch (Dongyin Liuzhi) and Spikenard (Gansong), or add Clove (Dingxiang) and Costus Root (Muxiang), grind into powder. Can be taken or held in mouth.
Resolving Purple Hematite (Zhiyingshi) Toxicity
Boil old hemp shoe soles in water, extract juice, and drink.
Xijiao Yin Fang (Rhino Horn Drink): Resolves Cinnabar/Mineral Medicinal Toxicity.
