When Yin and Yang qi are not in harmony, clear and turbid qi interfere with each other, and pathogenic qi strikes the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner), this condition is named Huoluan (Food Poisoning/Vomiting and Diarrhea). This is mostly caused by overeating pork slices followed by consuming dairy products like milk and cheese, along with improper intake of various marine and terrestrial foods. If the condition leads to muscle spasms (Zhuangjin - contraction of tendons causing cramps), it should be treated with dietary therapy.
Formulas:
Helilei Porridge Formula: Treats persistent Huoluan symptoms accompanied by mental restlessness and chest oppression.
Ingredients: Pericarpium Arecae Semen (Heleli) skin (half liang), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) (one liang, sliced), Oryza Glutinis Semen (Jingmi) (two he). Take three large cups of water, decoct Heleli and other ingredients, obtain two cups of liquid. Filter out the dregs.
Gaoliangjiang Porridge Formula: Treats Huoluan with vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal pain, and other ailments.
Ingredients: Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma (Gaoliangjiang) (one liang, crushed), Oryza Glutinis Semen (Jingmi) (two he). Take three large cups of water, decoct Gaoliangjiang, obtain two and a half cups. Filter out the dregs, add rice to cook into porridge for consumption.
La Porridge Formula: Treats post-Huoluan qi deficiency and emaciation, or persistent diarrhea.
Ingredients: Cera Flava (Huangla) (half liang), Oryza Glutinis Semen (Jingmi) (three he, finely ground). First, boil Jingmi in water to make porridge. Near completion, add Huangla, continue boiling until the wax melts and clarifies. Take warm.

The so-called "Five Yi" (Five Types of Dysphagia/Choking) are: first, Qi Yi (Qi Choking); second, You Yi (Worry Choking); third, Shi Yi (Food Choking); fourth, Lao Yi (Fatigue Choking); fifth, Si Yi (Thought Choking). These arise from disharmony of Yin and Yang and obstruction of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) qi mechanism.
Formulas:
Wuci Ji Qiemian Geng Formula: Treats Five Yi, inability to swallow food, cold stagnation in the chest, emaciation, and weakness.
Ingredients: Hen Gallus Domesticus Var. Nigricans (Wuci Ji) (half a chicken, prepared as per culinary methods), Triticum Aestivum Farina (Baifan) (four liang), Morus Albae Cortex (Sangganbaipi) (three fen, powdered), Poria (Chifuling) (three fen, powdered), Cinnamomi Ramulus Cortex (Guixin) powder (one fen). Consume according to usual dietary practices.
Yangrou Suobing Formula: Treats Five Yi, chest and diaphragm obstruction, inability to swallow food, emaciation, and weakness.
Ingredients: Ovis Aries Carco (Yangrou) (four liang, stir-fried into mince), Triticum Aestivum Farina (Baifan) (half jin), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) (one he), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenjuapi) (one fen, soaked in soup, scraped white, and dried). Powder the Chenjuapi.
Huangci Ji Suobing Formula: Treats Five Yi, inability to swallow food, chest and diaphragm obstruction, emaciation, and weakness.
