The formulas recorded above are all established cases from ancient times, each containing profound meaning. Generally, patients' diseases may have identical symptoms but different causes, or identical causes but different symptoms; some causes and symptoms appear similar yet are distinct, while others appear distinct yet are similar. Therefore, the key lies in thoroughly investigating the normal variations of causes and symptoms, and exploring the principles behind the ancients' formulation of prescriptions. Then we can emulate and prescribe accordingly, especially when following existing ancient formulas. Otherwise, I fear that holding a formula to fit the condition blindly. If it fits, it is fortunate; if it does not, the patient becomes a test subject for the formula. I have paid considerable attention to this matter.
