[Human Hair] Bitter, neutral. Enters the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) and Foot-Jueyin (Liver) meridians. Its function is specifically to stop bleeding and relieve strangury (painful/difficult urination). When combined with Guiban (Tartaric Turtle Shell), Xiongkui (Szechuan Lovage Rhizome), and Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), it treats Jiaogu Bukai (failure of the pubic symphysis to open during childbirth). When combined with Zhigao (Pork Fat), it treats Yin Chui (flatulence from the vagina). For pediatric Jing Re (startled fever), decoct with Jizi Huang (Egg Yolk) and take as juice. For Bi Ni (epistaxis), insufflate into the nose. Wash clean with Zaojiao Shui (Gleditsia Sinensis Water), store in a jar sealed tightly to preserve its nature. Also known as Xueyu (Blood Remainder).
[Pig Blood] Salty, hot, toxic. Enters the Hand-Taiyin (Lung) and Hand-Yangming (Large Intestine) meridians. Its function is specifically to treat Dou Chuang Dao Xian (inverted smallpox lesions). Take one qian mixed with pig blood. If the inversion is caused by cold-natured medicines leading to blood stasis, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk) and take with wine. It reduces fire toxicity. Grind finely and use after water-flying processing.
[Jin Zhi] Sweet, cold. Enters the Hand-Yangming (Large Intestine) and Foot-Yangming (Stomach) meridians. Its function is specifically to clear phlegm-fire, resolve food stagnation, and greatly clear excess heat in the five zang organs. Treats Yang Du Re Kuang (yang toxin, manic fever). Suitable for dou chuang where blood heat causes black, depressed lesions. Contraindicated in Shang Han (cold damage) not due to Yangming excess heat, and in dou chuang that are not purple-black and dry. The indications for Jin Zhi are the same as those for Ren Zhong Huang (Soil under human stool). Also known as Fen Qing (Feces Clear).
[White Honey] Salty, cool. Enters the Hand-Taiyin (Lung) meridian. Its function is specifically to descend fire and dissipate stasis. Treats lung stasis causing epistaxis, lao re xiao ke (consumptive fever and thirst), inverted smallpox lesions, ya gan kou chuang (noma and oral ulcers). Combined with Mahan (Hemp Seed) and Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin), it treats constipation due to blood deficiency. Combined with Jishi (Chicken Droppings/Stemona?), it treats spider bite venom. Contraindicated in yang deficiency without fire, indigestion, and loose bowels. Also known as Niao Bai Gao (Urine White Paste - *Note: Text likely refers to a specific preparation or contains an error, translated literally*).
[Dried Mugwort Stalks/Bai Pu] Salty, cold. Enters the Hand-Taiyin (Lung) meridian. Its function is specifically to moisten the lungs and clear stasis. Treats fei wei shi yin (lung atrophy with loss of voice), tu ni sun shang (hematemesis/epistaxis injury), bao yi bu xia (retained placenta), chan hou xue yun (postpartum blood syncope), bai xue ru fei (stasis blood entering the lungs), yin xu huo sou (yin deficiency with fire cough), and huore ru liao (fire-heat blazing like a fire). Only this herb can treat these conditions; it should be taken hot, or with Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice) to move phlegm, or Jiuzhi (Leek Juice) to dissipate stasis. In winter, warm with hot soup.
[Sheep Milk] Salty. Enters the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) meridian. Its function is specifically to nourish kidney water and nourish the Dantian. Combined with Rupen (Milk Powder), it secures Yuan Yang (Primordial Yang) and prolongs life. Combined with Fuling (Poria) and Tusizi (Dodder Seed), it treats Yi Zhuo (seminal emission/turbid urine). Combined with Fuling, Lianrou (Lotus Seed Flesh), Qianshi (Euryale Seed), and Zaorou (Jujube Flesh), it treats Yi Jing (nocturnal emission) and Xiao Bian Shu (frequent urination) due to excessive sexual desire. Can be used in food. Replace salt when treating swelling.
[Human Milk] Sweet, salty. Enters the Hand-Taiyin (Lung), Hand-Yangming (Large Intestine), Foot-Taiyin (Spleen), Foot-Yangming (Stomach), and Foot-Taiyang (Bladder) meridians. Its function is specifically to moisten the five zang organs, tonify blood, stop thirst, moisten skin, eliminate vexatious heat, regulate Ye Ge (dysphagia), beautify complexion, and unblock the intestines. Combined with Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), apply to red eyes. Contraindicated in deficiency-cold with slippery diarrhea and weak stomach. If milk is taken together with food, it easily causes accumulation and diarrhea. Human Milk mixed with equal parts Renshen (Ginseng) powder and honey pills, named Shenru Wan (Ginseng-Milk Pill), greatly tonifies qi and blood. Milk must be selected from healthy women. Boil with water to obtain powder. For insects entering the ear, drip milk to expel them. Combined with Lizhi (Pear Juice), it resolves phlegm and tonifies deficiency. Combined with wine, it treats sudden aphasia.
