[Shimi (Rock Sugar)]
Qi is neutral. Flavor is sweet. Non-toxic. It primarily treats evil qi in the heart and abdomen, various cases of fright, epilepsy, and spasms. It calms the five zang organs and addresses their deficiencies. It supplements qi and strengthens the middle jiao, alleviates pain, resolves toxicity, eliminates various diseases, and harmonizes with a hundred herbs. Long-term consumption strengthens the will, lightens the body, prevents hunger and aging, and extends life, akin to becoming an immortal. (Refined by fire)
Shimi has a neutral Qi, inheriting the metal energy of autumn harvest from heaven, entering the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. Its flavor is sweet and non-toxic, obtaining the central earth flavor from earth, entering the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian.
The ascending property of its Qi and flavor exceeds the descending, making it Yang. The heart and abdomen are areas traversed by the Taiyin meridians. With a sweet and neutral flavor, it primarily treats evil qi. Various cases of fright, epilepsy, and spasms stem from Liver heat and rebellious Qi. Fright is pacified; epilepsy and spasms are relaxed. The sweet and neutral flavor pacifies and relaxes them. Sweetness transforms into Earth, and Earth is the mother of all things. Deficiencies in the five zang organs are supplemented with sweetness. True Qi is obtained from heaven and filled by grain. Sweet flavor benefits the Spleen; when the Spleen is harmonious, grain is ingested. Thus, it supplements Qi and strengthens the Middle Jiao. Honey is brewed from hundreds of flowers, obtaining the most correct sweet flavor. Therefore, it alleviates pain, resolves toxicity, eliminates various diseases, and harmonizes with a hundred herbs. Long-term consumption neutralizes Qi and benefits the Lungs. The Lungs govern Qi. Sweet flavor benefits the Spleen. The Spleen controls Blood. When Qi and Blood are harmonious, one cultivates righteousness and greatness. Thus, it strengthens the will, lightens the body, prevents hunger and aging, and extends life, akin to becoming an immortal.

[Wuzeiyu Gu (Cuttlefish Bone)]
Qi is slightly warm. Flavor is salty. Non-toxic. It primarily treats leukorrhea (red and white discharge) in women, amenorrhea due to blood stasis, erosion and swelling/pain of the yin, alternating chills and fever with abdominal masses (Zheng Jia), and infertility.
Wuzeiyu Gu has a slightly warm Qi, inheriting the gentle wood energy of spring from heaven, entering the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Its flavor is salty and non-toxic, obtaining the water flavor of the north from earth, entering the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. The ascending property of its Qi and flavor exceeds the descending, making it Yang. Women prioritize Blood. The Liver is the organ that stores Blood. If Liver Blood fails to be stored, red and white discharge occurs. This is treated by its warm nature to promote flow. The Liver stores Blood; if Blood is depleted, menstruation stops. This is treated by its salty flavor to unblock. The Kidney is the organ that stores Essence and governs the hidden regions of the yin orifice. The Liver is Jueyin; its meridians traverse the genitalia, and its sinews knot at the genitalia. Damp-turbidity from these two meridians sinking downward causes erosion and swelling/pain of the yin. This is treated by its warm nature to dry dampness and its salty flavor to reduce swelling. Alternating chills and fever with abdominal masses refer to masses accompanied by chills and fever. Cuttlefish bone: saltiness can soften hardness; warmth can dispel chills and fever. In men, Kidney deficiency leads to essence depletion and infertility. In women, Liver injury leads to blood depletion and infertility. Salty and warm, it enters the Liver and Kidney, unblocks Blood, benefits Essence, and enables conception.
