[Cloud Mother (Yunmu)]
Any Cloud Mother that is yellowish-black, thick and hard, or red in color having been handled by women's hands, is useless. One must select those that are lustrous, translucent, and ice-white as the superior grade.
For processing one *jin* of Cloud Mother, first take one *yi* each of *Xiaodichangcao* (Herba Oldenlandiae Diffusae), *Zibeitiankui* (Folium Basellae Rubrae), *Shengmucadi* (likely a local variant or specific preparation), and fresh juice of *Dihuang* (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata). If the herbs are dry, cut them finely; if wet, extract their juice. Place these medicines in a porcelain crucible, put the Cloud Mother beneath the medicines, add three *yi* of Tianchi water, and boil over fire for one day and one night. Do not let the fire and water conditions go out of control. The Cloud Mother will naturally turn into a jasper-green slurry settling at the bottom of the pot. At this point, vigorously pour in more Tianchi water and stir the mixture. Remove any floating substances resembling scum from the pot walls. Repeat this washing process three times until clean. Take out the material. Grind one *liang* of Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum) into powder, decoct it in three *sheng* of Tianchi water to make a Chenxiang decoction, divide it into three parts, and use each part to wash the Cloud Mother slurry again. Finally, dry it under the sun for use. *Zexie* (Rhizoma Alismatis) acts as its guiding herb. It is incompatible with Xuchangqing (Herba Cynanchi Paniculati) and sheep blood; it fears Jia Fanshi (Alumen), flowing water from the east, dew on hundred herbs, and leaky water from thatched roofs; it can control Hong (Mercurius); and it is subdued by Dansha (Cinnabaris).
[Stalactite (Shizhongru)]
When processing, do not use "Konggong Shi" which has a thick head and large tail; do not use Stalactite that is black in color, has been subjected to intense fire (improper calcination), stored on the ground for a long time, or previously processed with other drugs. One must select those that are bright, thin, lustrous, and shaped like goose quill tubes, with a length of five to six cun, as the superior grade.
Processing method: First, boil in Wuxiang water for one shichen (two hours), then drain. Separately, soak in a mixture of Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) and Zibeitiankui juice, and boil again for one shichen. For eight *liang* of Zhongru, use one *liang* each of Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum), Linglingxiang (Flos Agastachis), Huoxiang (Herba Pogostemonis), Gansong (Radix Nardostachyos), and Baimaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae). Decoct once with water. For the second decoction, use two *liang* each of Gancao and another unspecified herb (context implies the remaining ingredients or a specific pair, text says "Gancao etc. two flavors"), boil again, drain, wipe dry, and slowly bake over mild fire. Then pound in a mortar until powdered, sieve, and place in a bowl. Have two strong young men grind continuously for three days and nights without rest. Then perform water levigation (flying with water), filter through silk gauze, and dry under the sun. Grind again in the bowl twenty thousand times. Finally, store in a porcelain box for use. Shechuangzi (Fructus Cnidii) acts as its guiding herb. It is incompatible with Mudan (Cortex Moutan), Xuanshi (Lapis Ferri Oxidi), Mumeng (likely a mineral drug), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis), and mutton blood; it fears Zi Shiying (Mica Rubra), Suocao (likely a grass), Jiushi (Semen Allii Tuberosi), Dusan (Bulbus Allii Sativi), Hucong (Bulbus Allii Fistulosi), Huisui (Herba Coriandri Sativi), Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis), and Mao'er Yancao (likely a specific herb).
[Alum (Fanshi)]
Used raw to detoxify; used processed to promote tissue regeneration. Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) acts as its guiding herb. It is incompatible with Musli (Concha Ostreae); it fears Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae) and Hongxinhui (Red Heart Ash).
