(Stomach is the sea of water and grain; all zang-fu organs derive their qi from the Stomach. ○ When five grains enter the Stomach, their dregs, fluids, and Zong Qi (Gathering Qi) are divided into three pathways: the Upper Jiao distributes Zong Qi and fluids, while the Lower Jiao excretes dregs. ○ The Large Intestine and Small Intestine manage the intake and discharge of water and grain, transferring fluids, with the Stomach acting as the general manager of these two meridians. ○ The Stomach belongs to Dry Earth; its nature prefers descending and softness/moisture, making it suitable for nourishing fluids. ○ Yangming Yang Earth finds peace when supported by Yin. ○ Fu organs should remain unobstructed; if heat causes constipation, using purgatives is also a method to rescue Yin and preserve fluids.)
Treats insufficiency of blood in the Stomach. (The谷物 Qi in the Stomach transforms essence to generate blood.) If dry-fire dominates. Or presents with vexation, restlessness, and thirst. Or vomiting yellow fluid. (Yellow fluid indicates Heat; clear fluid indicates Cold.)
Or dysphagia with food retention. (Refers to dry retching without vomiting). Or regurgitation after eating. (All indicate Stomach dryness/withering). Or polyphagia with rapid digestion. (This is Xiao Zhong syndrome, belonging to Stomach Heat; if transmitted to the Lung, it becomes Upper Xiao; if transmitted to the Kidney, it becomes Lower Xiao). Or massive hematemesis. (Yangming has abundant Qi and Blood, forced out by Fire pathogen). Or difficult defecation. (Fluid exhaustion). Or excessive eating yet emaciation. (Heat transferred from Large Intestine to Stomach leads to good appetite but thinness, called "Shi Yi" [Eating Easily]; similarly, heat transferred from Stomach to Gallbladder). Also treats cases of Lung Dryness, Kidney Heat. Or those complicated by Heart and Liver Fire. ○ Apply the plaster to Zhongwan (CV12), Xiawan (CV10), and Shenque (CV8). (Add decoction ingredients for topical application as appropriate).
