Yin Yang Er Qi Dan (Two-Qi Pill of Yin and Yang): Treats gangrene of the toes (Tuoju) resulting from long-term use of cinnabar and sulfur-based tonics, which deplete Kidney Yin. Symptoms include dry mouth and throat, to the extent that drinking ice snow is not perceived as cold. This indicates hyperactivity of solitary Yang; immediate administration of this formula is required.
Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, soaked in hot water, coarse skin removed, pounded into paste) Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, pounded into paste) Tian Men Dong (Asparagi Radix, pounded into paste) Ren Zhong Bai (Nitrified Human Urine Deposit, raw use) Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus, stir-fried and ground) Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, each one liang) Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis, select those with delicate color) Ku Fan (Alumen calcined) Chen Sha (Cinnabar, levigated for coating) Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each three qian) Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum, one qian)
Grind each ingredient into fine powder. Mix with the pastes of Xuan Shen and the two Dong herbs (Mai Men Dong and Tian Men Dong), add a small amount of refined honey, and pound over a thousand times until the consistency is moderate. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take sixty pills per dose, delivered with one cup of child's urine and one cup of breast milk on an empty stomach. Sleep quietly for one shichen (two hours); the efficacy is miraculous.
Qing Shen San (Clear Spirit Powder): Treats Tuoju (gangrene of the toes), Ding Chuang (carbuncles/furuncles), and Fa Bei (back carbuncle). When toxins accumulate severely and pores fail to vent them properly, it often leads to restlessness, mental confusion, delirium during sleep, vomiting, and inability to eat. All such cases are suitable for this formula.
Gan Cao Jie (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma with nodes, five qian) Lv Dou Fen (Vigna mungo powder, authentic, one liang) Da Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, three qian) Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis, three fen) Mei Hua Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum, five fen)
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed and taken with decoction of Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatheri Herba) and Deng Xin Cao (Junci Medulla).
Ci Xiong Pi Li Huo (Male-Female Thunderbolt Fire): Treats Tuoju (gangrene of the toes) and all early-stage Fa Bei (back carbuncles) that do not present with pain. Moxibustion is indicated.
Ai Rong (Artemisiae Argyi Folium prepared moxa wool, two qian) She Xiang (Moschus, one qian) Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos) Ci Huang (Realgar, female variant) Xiong Huang (Realgar, male variant, each two fen)
Grind the medicines extremely finely, mix into moxa wool, and roll into pills the size of pea seeds. Apply moxibustion to the affected area. Regardless of whether there is pain or itching, continue until the flesh becomes scorched. If the toxin has already spread, apply moxa cones along the outer edge of the redness. The ideal outcome is a transformation from pain to itching, or from itching to pain. Subsequently, apply Ti Ding Mai Zi Gao (a plaster for drawing out toxins) and cover it. Then take Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pills) and Jie Du Ji Sheng Tang (Detoxification and Life-Sustaining Decoction) concurrently. A favorable sign is the return of healthy tissue color and suppuration.
Jin Ye Wu Tu Dan (Golden Fluid Earth Earth Pill): Treats Tuoju (gangrene of the toes) and Ding Chuang/Fa Bei. If patients indulge in rich, greasy foods, strong wine, take mineral tonics, or engage in excessive sexual activity, toxins accumulate in the Zang-Fu organs. Over time, Stomach fluids dry up, Kidney water exhausts, failing to control Heart fire from above. This leads to Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst syndrome), including Xiao Zhong (Stomach heat) and Xiao Shen (Kidney heat), characterized by extreme thirst with copious drinking, polyphagia with emaciation, obstruction of the nine orifices, palpitations, and forgetfulness. Once this condition manifests, gangrene will inevitably follow and is difficult to treat. It is advisable to take this formula prophylactically; it can also transform severe conditions into mild ones, deep diseases into shallow ones, and detoxify heavy metals and minerals.
Ren Zhong Huang (Human Middle Yellow) Wu Mei Rou (Mume Fructus pulp) Hu Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma var. chinensis) Bai Fu Shen (Poria Cocos with Hostwood) Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus, each one qian) Shi Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) Yuan Zhi Rou (Polygalae Radix pulp) Ming Xiong Huang (Realgar, purified) Chen Sha (Cinnabar) Xiao Shi (Natrii Sulfas, each three qian) Xi Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus, rare type) Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum, each one qian) Jin Bo (Folium Aurum, twenty sheets, used for coating)
Grind each ingredient finely using a mortar and pestle. Combine according to the specified proportions and grind together in a mortar for a thousand turns. Prepare on auspicious days such as Dragon Boat Festival, Qixi Festival, or the Solstices and Equinoxes, in a clean room. First, pound Wu Mei and Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) into a smooth paste, mix with the medicine, gradually add refined honey, and knead slowly until the consistency is moderate. Divide one liang of medicine into ten pills, coat with Jin Bo. Take one pill per dose, dissolve in a large cup of human milk and child's urine combined. Administer before or after meals depending on the location of the disease. This formula is most effective at detoxifying rich foods and mineral drugs, eliminating "Three Corpses" parasites, clearing deficiency-heat, and possesses extraordinary efficacy. It also treats mania and insanity, primarily calming the spirit and mind, warding off miasma and epidemics, and addressing various evil influences, delirium, delusions, and loss of mental clarity. During preparation and consumption, avoid exposure to women, monks/nuns, mourners, chickens, and dogs. Seal the medicine with wax for storage, prevent leakage of the aroma; the longer it is stored, the more effective it becomes.
