Dou Hanqing stated: Xuegan (Blood Chancre) is caused by internal organ deficiency, invasion of pathogenic factors, decline of true qi, and blockage of couli (skin pores and interstices) by wind-toxin, manifesting on the skin and muscles.
Initially resembling Zijie (Purple Scabies), it bleeds upon rupture, with sores spreading all over the body, forming lesions wherever they move, damaging skin and flesh, causing unbearable itching and pain. The treatment method should first focus on nourishing blood and clearing heat, followed by clearing the muscle layer and leaching out dampness. (Quanshu)
The Classic states: The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Taiyang [Small Intestine] meridian is named Zhizheng (SI8). It is located five cun above the wrist tip. In deficiency conditions, warts may appear. (Warts are synonymous with houzi; 'wu' sounds like 'xiu'; colloquially mistaken for corns/clavus). Small ones present as scabs or scabies on fingers. Treatment involves selecting the Luo-connecting point of this meridian.
Xue Lizhai stated: Warts belong to the Wind-Fire and Blood-Dryness of the Liver-Gallbladder Shaoyang meridians, or are caused by anger-fire, liver-fire, or pathogenic influences affecting the liver. Generally, liver heat dries up fluids, and kidney qi fails to nourish, resulting in essence loss and tendon contraction. It is advisable to use Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) to nourish kidney water to generate liver blood. If methods such as wrapping with spider silk, eroding with mantis bites, or moxibustion are used, errors are likely. Broadly speaking, this condition is similar to Blood-Dryness Tubercles. Therefore, using external corrosive methods and internal blood-drying detoxification herbs will further deplete essence and blood, damage liver tendons, cause the sore edges to evert and open, ultimately leading to a fatal outcome.
Zhengzitong states: Small warts are commonly known as houzi (verruca vulgaris).
Empirical Formula
Kochia Scoparia Herb (Difuzi) and Alum (Baifan) in equal parts.
Decoct in water and wash several times until the verrucae disappear completely.
Another Prescription: When thunderstorms occur, the person with warts should keep it secret, stand under the eaves facing the thunder, and wipe the verrucae with their hand while silently reciting: "Thunder strike the monkey, go away quickly." Recite seven times, wipe seven times, and wipe towards the outside of the courtyard well, after which they will fall off spontaneously.
Shen Douyuan stated: Qiari Chuang (Thousand-Day Sore) is also known as You Chuang, Houzi, or Huiqi Chuang. This sore resembles fish scales, grows on the hands and feet, and falls off spontaneously after one thousand days, hence the name. Rubbing with chicken gizzard lining promotes self-healing. Another method involves applying moxibustion with Qiai (Qicheng Mugwort) on the first emerging wart, after which the rest will fall off spontaneously and heal. (Qixuan)
Empirical Formula (Gu Yufeng): Place a copper coin over the Qiari Chuang and press firmly. Roll straw paper, ignite it until thoroughly burnt, take the resulting charcoal ember, place it on the sore, ignite it with incense, blow it out after burning, then apply another ember. Repeat this process five to seven times; the root of the sore will detach spontaneously without pain.
Another Prescription (Du Mi) for sudden growth of vertical fleshy tags, meat monkeys, and pigmented nevi on the body.
New Forged Stone (Duan Shi) and Alkali (Jian) in equal parts.
Soak in strong liquor for one shichen (two hours) before use. Apply once a week; purple blisters will form. Puncture them to drain fluid and form scabs. For pigmented nevi, gently prick with a needle before application.
Another Prescription (Wang Deshan): Rub with snake slough; it will fall off.
