Since the ulceration and rotting of flesh into pus, how can the Fenglun (Cornea) regenerate? Generally, this is caused by Fire Evil acting within the Shen Gao (Vitreous Humor), and the Black God Powder (Hei Shen San) is used to disperse the Yellow Essence (pathological accumulation).
This condition occurs between the lower margin of the Fenglun (Cornea) and the Jin Wei (White Sclera/Qi Wheel), where a yellow substance resembling chicken fat grows inside the Shen Gao (Vitreous Humor). In mild cases, it resembles small yellow pustules, invisible from the outside, similar to the white rock at the root of human fingernails. This is beyond the reach of ordinary acupuncture and herbal medicine. If the condition is severe and does not resolve, it will inevitably burst through the Fenglun (Cornea), causing the eye to rupture and leading to blindness. Even if it does not rupture, the Jin Jing (Pupil) will immediately scatter, the Black God (Kidney Qi/Pupil) will fail, resulting in blindness. This condition is extremely adverse, as meridians are blocked, Yin and Yang are separated, and it is formed by the steaming and humidification of Fire and Earth evils. Cases accompanied by headache and constipation are particularly urgent. If mistaken for epidemic heat or external heat and treated indiscriminately yet suddenly cured, I would retreat three camps (yield admiration). Upon examination, one must ask whether previous treatment has been administered. If untreated, administer one dose of Chai Ge Jie Ji Tang (Bupleurum and Kudzu Decoction to Release the Muscles) or Shi Shen Tang (Ten Spirits Decoction) to observe efficacy. If effective, complete the course with San You Wan (Three Friends Pill) and Da Huang Wan (Rhubarb Pill); if ineffective, switch to Ren Shen Bai Hu Tang (Ginseng White Tiger Decoction) or Shao Yao Qing Gan San (Peony Liver-Clearing Powder), or use Xie Huang San (Drain Yellow Powder) or Shuang Jie San (Double Resolution Powder); the illness will surely缓 (slow down) and gradually recede. If previously treated, examine the pulse, observe the constitution, and verify whether previous prescriptions were excessive or insufficient; apply mental principles to adjust. Grind Ling Yang Jiao (Antelope Horn) and Xi Jiao (Rhinoceros Horn) to mix with Xiao Yao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder), or decoct Bo Yun Wan (Cloud-Piercing Pill), Gu Ben Wan (Root-Firming Pill), or Huan Jing Wan (Eye-Returning Pill) to drink sequentially; the yellow fluid will undoubtedly dissipate. Once dissipated, tonify and harmonize, select formulas according to symptoms, and restoring Yuan Qi (Original Qi) becomes easy. Among these, there is a deficiency-cold pattern requiring initial treatment with Ren Shen (Ginseng), [missing character], Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig), and Fu Zi (Aconite Root) for warming dispersion; this follows the principle of "abandoning symptoms to follow the pulse." This principle exists and must be carefully understood.
The Shui Lun (Water Wheel/Pupil) grows attached to the Fenglun (Cornea); its texture is most fragile and tender, hollow and thin, capable of expanding and contracting. Seen frontally, it appears external; seen obliquely, it is clearly internal. The eyes of all birds, beasts, scales, and shells are like this. Its hollow part is commonly called Tongzi (Pupil). In dangerous diseases, one always beckons it with a hand; if it responds, joy ensues. Even in cases of Qing Mang (Green Blindness) or Wind Transformation, people say, "The pupil remains, so surely no harm," unaware that this is but a reflection in a mirror or moon in water, showing only an image. The true Tong Shen (Spirit of the Pupil) is deeply hidden within the Gao (Vitreous Humor); who can see whether there is light or not? This discipline not only fails to clarify this point but also propagates absurdities like "a pig crossing the river" (nonsense) and "digging a well to find a man" (rumor), openly establishing theories, even citing the wonders of double pupils or one object appearing twice, causing laughter. Most laughable is stating that for this condition, it is between the upper margin of the Fenglun (Cornea) and the Kan Wei (North/Kidney position); for Shui Lun (Pupil) dilation, it is said the Fenglun (Cornea) is narrow around; for central external obstacles, it is called Shen Yi (Kidney Nebula). The drugs used invariably involve modifications of Di Huang Tang (Rehmannia Decoction). This essentially treats the hollow part as the Fenglun (Cornea) and the part enclosing the Shen Shui (Humors) as the Shui Lun (Water Wheel). Alas! The ignorant are unchangeable; no need for deep debate. Simply dissect the stupid pig's eye for him to observe closely, and his confusion will surely clear. The eyes of Shun and Yu were likely more brilliant than ordinary people, hence called "double pupils"; could it truly be one object presenting two shadows? This defies logic. If one eye had two pupils, it would be a monster, let alone a sign of emperors. Regarding the saying "Shun's double pupils grew top and bottom, Yu's grew left and right," who actually saw this, and in which classic is it recorded?
All books describe this condition as Huang Mo Shang Chong (Yellow Membrane Rushing Up). Master Fu, an expert in ophthalmology, compiled the Eye Subject book *Yao Han* (Treasury of Miracles), also known as *Da Quan*, seemingly unsurpassed, yet why did he also follow the term "Membrane"? Bu Chen specifically corrects it to "Fluid" (Ye). Because fluid resembles serum/water, the metaphor is apt; membrane belongs to skin/flesh, referring to things that are thin and tender, thick and tough, immobile and tight—how could such things rush up? One can understand this by looking at cow membranes or pig vitreous humor. It is clearly a serous substance, yet chaotically named as a disease. Have dictionaries and glossaries never been consulted? Furthermore, the lower condition is called Wu Gan (Five Wasting-Tobacco Syndromes). Gan syndromes are diseases caused by children consuming too much sweet food; how can they manifest in the eyes? Is it because excessive eye drops make the eye "full" and accumulate? Ignoring this logic makes one laugh their jaw off! Now, changing to the character "Yang" (Ulcer), what is the meaning? Yang is another name for sores/crusts, close to the principle/mechanism, so it is directly written as Wu Yang (Five Ulcers).
