Song of Deep-rooted Nail-like Pterygium (Ding Yi Gen Shen Ge)
Deep-rooted nail-like pterygium arises within the eye; its hardness resembles a nail head, causing severe pain. The eyes are red and dry, with photophobia and tearing. This is caused by toxic heat from the Liver and Heart rushing upward to the pupil. One should consume Chu Re Yin Zi (Clear Heat Decoction), which contains Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Chong Wei Zi (Leonuri Fructus), Hei Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix).
[Note] "Deep-rooted nail-like pterygium" refers to a black opacity in the eye that is hard like a nail. The symptoms include pain, redness, dryness, tearing, and photophobia. This condition results from toxic heat in the Liver and Heart meridians attacking the eye's pupil. It is appropriate to take Chu Re Yin Zi (Clear Heat Decoction) to clear and purge the toxic heat.

Song of Wind-Induced Facial Paralysis (Feng Qian Pi Ge)
Wind-induced facial paralysis causes itching and redness of the eyelids. Acupuncture at Feng Chi (GB20) and Jing Ming (BL1) of the Yangming meridian clears heat and expels wind. Internally, take Pai Feng San (Expel Wind Powder), which contains Quan Xie (Scorpio), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Wu She (Zaocys), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix).
[Note] The syndrome of wind-induced facial paralysis presents with itching and redness of the eyelid skin, and frequent pulling or twitching of the mouth and eyes. This is caused by the accumulation of wind-heat in the Yangming meridian. It is appropriate to first needle the Jing Ming (BL1) acupoint to externally drain the pathogenic factor, followed by taking Pai Feng San (Expel Wind Powder) to internally disperse the wind.

Song of Deep Ice-Glaze Cataract (Bing Xia Yi Shen Ge)
The deep ice-glaze cataract has a dark, slightly bluish color, traversing horizontally across the cornea, accompanied by itching and pain. Tearing and discharge occur, with red vessels surrounding the edge, indicating Liver heat. Applying Shi Yan Dan (Swallowstone Pill) externally is effective; internally, take Chong Wei San (Leonuri Fructus Powder), which contains Chong Wei Zi (Leonuri Fructus), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix).
[Note] The syndrome of deep ice-glaze cataract features an opacity white and blue like ice, traversing the cornea horizontally. Symptoms may include itching or pain, occurring intermittently without fixed timing. There is sticky discharge and tearing, with red vessels on the sclera. This is due to heat in the Liver meridian. It is appropriate to apply Shi Yan Dan (Swallowstone Pill) externally and take Chong Wei San (Leonuri Fructus Powder) internally.
