In the treatment of wind-stroke (Zhong Feng), if one does not examine the manifestations and syndromes of the Six Channels (Liu Jing) for modification, administering medication is no different from not doing so.

For wind-stroke with absence of sweating and aversion to cold, double the dosage of Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), and Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren) in this formula.

For wind-stroke with presence of sweating and aversion to wind, double the dosage of Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), and Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren) in this formula.

For wind-stroke with fever, absence of sweating, no aversion to cold, but thirst, add Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao) and Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu), each 1 qian 4 fen, and remove Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi).

For wind-stroke with fever, presence of sweating, and aversion to wind, add Puerariae Radix (Gegen), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi), and Polyporus (Fuling), each 1 qian 5 fen.

For wind-stroke with absence of sweating and cool body, double the dosage of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi) and add Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang) 1 qian.

For wind-stroke with presence of sweating and no fever, double the dosage of Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao).

For wind-stroke with spasmodic pain in limbs and joints and numbness, add Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo) and Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), each 1 qian 5 fen.

This refers to Xiao Xuming Tang (Minor Continuation Life Decoction) removing Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), and Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi), adding Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Du Huo - *Note: Context implies Du Huo/Heracleum*, here translated as Angelicae Pubescentis Radix or similar based on standard usage in this context, usually Du Huo is Angelicae Pubescentis Radix*), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang) (each 1 liang), and Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao) 5 qian, treating hemiplegia.

Acute conditions: stiff body, cold extremities, opisthotonos (Jiao Gong Fan Zhang), aphasia, and delirious speech.

This refers to Xiao Xuming Tang containing Polygalae Radix (Fangji), adding Bungarus multicinctus (Baihua She), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Du Huo), and Scorpio (Ganjie) (each 3 qian), treating sudden onset of wind-stroke with loss of consciousness and gradual development of hemiplegia.

This refers to Duhuo Xuming Tang removing Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren), and Polygalae Radix (Fangji), adding Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Tianma), Bombyx Batryticatus (Jiangcan), Atractodis Rhizoma (Baizhu), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Chijian/Cixin - *Note: Text says 'Ben Chijian Cixin', likely referring to Achyranthes and Asari*), Alismatis Rhizoma (Baifuzi), Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia)... treating acute wind-stroke with locked jaw and mental confusion.

This refers to Xiao Xuming Tang removing Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) and Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), adding Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Du Huo), Polygalae Radix (Fangji), Polyporus (Fuling), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), and Atractodis Rhizoma (Baizhu). Grind into coarse powder, place in a small silk bag, decoct with water... Take daily, avoid wind and cold; highly effective for treating various wind diseases regardless of severity.

Treating Chest Bi (Xiong Bi) syndrome: panting, coughing and spitting, chest and back pain, shortness of breath, Cun position pulse is deep and slow, Guan position pulse is slightly tight and rapid.

Decoct these three ingredients together to obtain two sheng, take warm in two doses.

This is the previous formula adding Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia) half sheng, reducing Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus (Xiebai) by five liang, decoct to obtain four sheng, take one sheng warm, three times a day, treating Chest Bi where the patient cannot lie flat.

This is the previous formula adding Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhishi) four pieces, Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo) four liang, Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi) one liang, without white wine. Use five sheng of water, first decoct Zhishi and Houpo... strain, add other herbs, boil briefly, divide into three warm doses, treating Chest Bi with epigastric fullness/stagnation, qi knotting in the chest, chest fullness, rebellious qi seizing the heart from the hypochondrium.
