This is Juzhong Zhonghe Wan (Harmonizing the Middle Pill with Tangerine Peel, Pinellia, Immature Bitter Orange, and Atractylodes Macrocephala) added with Agarwood Wood (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) and White Cardamom Seed (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) (each two liang), used to treat qi rebellion due to phlegm and food stagnation. If accompanied by epigastric pain, add Greater Galangal Fruit (Alpiniae Katsumadai Fructus) (four liang); if due to qi stagnation pain, add Agarwood (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (two liang).
Use Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (eight qian), Bran-fried Immature Bitter Orange Fruit (Citri Reticulatae Viridis Fructus) (half liang), Poria Cocos (Poria) with peel removed, and Processed Dried Ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum) (each three liang). Grind the above into fine powder, mix with refined honey, and make pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. Take fifty pills each time, swallowing with warm rice water. It treats conditions such as retained fluid after drinking alcohol, indigestion of phlegm and water, chest and abdominal fullness with rebellious qi, vomiting, dim vision, deafness, hypochondriac tightness and pain, and borborygmus in the abdomen.
Use Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (one liang two qian), Bran-fried Immature Bitter Orange Fruit (Citri Reticulatae Viridis Fructus) (two qian half), Processed Pinellia Tuber (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum), Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) with white pith removed (each one liang), Processed Magnolia Bark (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) (one liang), and Areca Seed (Arecae Semen). Take sixty to seventy pills each time, swallowing with "Qianbai Tang" (a specific decoction or saline solution). It treats chronic weakness, loss of appetite, and dysfunction of the zang-fu organs manifesting as either constipation or diarrhea. This formula is for frequent use by individuals with weak stomach qi; it harmonizes the middle, regulates qi, resolves phlegm, removes dampness, and promotes digestion in the gastrointestinal tract.
This is Zhi Zhu Wan (Single Atractylodes Pill) combined with Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) added with Kudzu Root (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), Dried Ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma), and Cinnamon Twig (Cinnamomi Ramulus). Each herb is one liang. Process them according to standard methods, grind into fine powder, mix with refined honey, and make pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. Take thirty pills each time on an empty stomach, swallowing with warm rice water. It treats nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (Ganzhou disease), characterized by mental restlessness, dizziness and heaviness of the head and eyes, aversion to the smell of food, retching, severe discomfort, limb fatigue, and weakness. Consistent use of this medicine can eliminate phlegm and cold fluids, improve appetite, strengthen the body, and nourish the fetus. One should first take Banxia Fuling Tang (Pinellia and Poria Decoction), then proceed to this medicine. This is a compound formula.
This is Zhizhu Tang (Immature Bitter Orange and Atractylodes Decoction) combined with Erchen Tang (Two-Aged Decoction), treating chest and diaphragm obstruction due to spleen and stomach phlegm-fluid retention.
From *Bingbu Shouji* (Manual Collection of the Ministry of War), it treats dysentery of red and white type, tenesmus, and abdominal pain, with miraculous efficacy. The principal herbs are Coptis Rhizome (Coptidis Rhizoma) (bitter and cold) and Agarwood Wood (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (pungent and warm). These two herbs are taken in equal parts, pounded, sifted, mixed with white honey, and made into pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. Take twenty to thirty pills each time on an empty stomach, swallowing with water. Administer twice daily. For cases of chronic cold, mix with roasted garlic paste when making the pills, without restriction on size.
Take Coptis Rhizome (Coptidis Rhizoma) with rhizome and hairs removed (twenty liang) and Evodia Fruit (Evodiae Fructus) with stems and branches removed (ten liang). Stir-fry them together until reddish, then discard the Evodia Fruit. Do not expose Agarwood Wood (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) to direct fire. Grind the remaining Coptis into a fine powder (passing through an eight-mesh sieve). Mix with vinegar to form pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. Take twenty pills each time, swallowing with warm water after meals. On an empty stomach and before meals, take two to three doses daily. It treats diarrhea, thirst, undigested food in stool, abdominal distension, borborygmus, chest and diaphragm stuffiness, hypochondriac fullness and distension, dysentery with pus and blood, tenesmus, frequent nocturia, loss of appetite, difficult urination, limb lethargy, and gradual emaciation caused by deficiency and disharmony of the stomach and intestines in both men and women. Xue Lizhai moistened Coptis Rhizome (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Evodia Fruit (Evodiae Fructus) with cooked water, placed them in a porcelain vessel, and stewed them in hot water until they turned purple-yellow. Discard the Evodia Fruit, keep only the Coptis, and grind into powder. For every four liang of Coptis powder, add one liang of Agarwood Wood (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) powder, and mix with light vinegar and water to form pills.
