When Fire-Heat Qi restrains Lung Metal, failing to subdue Liver Wood, it leads to convulsions, sudden collapse, and loss of consciousness, named Shu Feng (Summerheat Wind). Some cases of sudden collapse are due to Phlegm-Fire and Qi stagnation; these should be treated by inducing vomiting to expel phlegm (method see Stroke chapter) and clearing fire.
Main Formula: Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 2 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried with ginger juice, 1 qian), Xiangru (Elsholtziae Herba, 1 qian), Bian Dou (Lablab Album Seed), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Fuling (Poria, each 0.8 fen). In early summer, symptoms include dizziness, physical fatigue, five-palm heat (heat in palms, soles, and chest), mental confusion with excessive sleepiness, bitter taste in mouth, dry tongue, reduced appetite, discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, and a rapid yet forceless pulse. This indicates Yin deficiency and Blood insufficiency, along with Yuan Qi (Original Qi) deficiency.

(Attachment: Heaviness of Body)
The Classics state: "All dampness-induced swelling and fullness belong to Spleen Earth." It also says: "Excessive dampness leads to loose stools (Ru Xie)." And again: "Earth's dampness, when invading the human body, harms the skin, flesh, sinews, and bones." Generally, dampness invades the body either from the outside or generates from within. External invasion occurs through sensing mountain miasma, enduring rainy humidity, living in low-lying areas near rivers/seas or on muddy ground; stepping into such environments allows dampness to lodge in the Cou Li (interstices of skin and muscles), seep into the skin, and overflow into the meridians. This causes headache, dizziness, spontaneous sweating with limb stiffness, bone and joint soreness, four-limb fatigue, and a floating-slow pulse. Treatment should primarily focus on leaching out dampness, slightly combined with dispersing methods. Internal generation results from drinking alcohol, consuming rich flavors, raw/cold fruits and vegetables, wet noodles, dairy products, and excessive intake of soups/liquids, which accumulate in the Stomach. Combined with weak Spleen Earth, where Earth fails to control Water, dampness infiltrates the muscles. This causes facial and ocular edema, chest fullness with panting, loose stools, scanty and difficult urination, leg and knee swelling, and a deep-slow pulse. Treatment should primarily regulate the Spleen, combined with promoting urination. It is said that treating dampness without promoting urination is not the correct method.
Main Formula (for external dampness): Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Zisu (Perillae Folium), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Gange (Puerariae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Ben Cao (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, each 0.8 fen), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each 0.3 fen). Add three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and one black date to the above, decoct with water and take orally. To mildly disperse external pathogens. If internal pathogens exist, refer subsequently.

Add three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and twenty stems of Dengxin Cao (Junci Medulla), decoct with water, take before meals.
