By adding the Qi Ce (method for calculating solar terms), we obtain two days and seventy-five fen with a remainder of two, designated as Jiyou. Calculating to the Xinhai day, on the seventeenth day of the eighth month, the Xinhai day marks the transition into the Fifth Qi (Fifth climatic phase).
By adding the Qi Ce, we obtain three days, sixty-two fen, and forty seconds, designated as Jiyou. We arrive at the Chen hour of the Renzi day; on the ninth day of the tenth month, the Renzi day marks the transition into the Final Qi (Sixth climatic phase).
In ancient times, the Heavenly Dragon-Horse emerged from the Hong River (Yellow River), bearing the numbers of Yin and Yang. This occurred during the era of Fuxi, where there were nine positions, and the numbers began with one and ended with nine. The Sages secretly aligned with the will of Heaven, striving to model the Nine Palaces through intent. By excluding the central position, they drew the Eight Trigrams. Excluding the three positions that are mutually related, each contains five. However, Kan in the North is one, combining with Li in the South which is nine, forming ten; adding the central five results in fifteen. Zhen in the East is three, combining with Dui in the West which is seven, forming ten; adding the central five results in fifteen. Qian at the northern corner is six, combining with Xun at the southeastern corner which is four, forming ten; adding the central five results in fifteen. Gen in the northeast is eight, combining with Kun in the southwest which is two, forming ten; adding the central five results in fifteen. Furthermore, Qian six combines with Gen eight to form fourteen; adding Kan one results in fifteen. Gen eight combines with Xun four to form twelve; adding Zhen three results in fifteen. Xun four combines with Kun two to form six; adding Li nine results in fifteen. Additionally, Kun two and Qian six form eight; adding Dui seven results in fifteen. Thus, the five positions unite to form the number fifteen because the three positions correspond to thirty-five. Corresponding to the Five Elements via numbers, these are the Generating Numbers. Accumulating one, two, three, four, and five yields a total of fifteen; this is the number used by Qian and Kun. Qian represents Heaven and is Yang; its numbers are odd, so one, three, and five sum to nine, representing the function of Qian. Kun represents Earth and is Yin; its numbers are even, so two and four sum to six, representing the function of Kun. Kun has six lines and thus uses six; Qian has three lines and thus uses nine; therefore, nine and six together constitute fifteen. Regarding climatic observations, five days constitute one Hou (observation period). Zhen three, Dui seven, and the central five sum to fifteen. Thus, the three positions unite to form fifteen because the three positions correspond to numbers, specifically the Generating Numbers of the Five Elements. Accumulating one, two, three, four, and five yields fifteen, which is the number used by Qian and Kun. Qian is Heaven and Yang; Yang numbers are odd, so one, three, and five form nine, the function of Qian. Kun is Earth and Yin; Yin numbers are even, so two and four form six, the function of Kun. Kun uses six due to its six lines, and Qian uses nine due to its three lines. Because the Way of Qian encompasses Kun, they combine to form nine, utilizing these numbers, thus nine and six constitute fifteen. Furthermore, climatic observations take five days; the Five Movements cycle to form one Hou, and three Hous form one Qi, corresponding to the image of the Three Powers (Heaven, Earth, Humanity). The waxing and waning of the moon corresponds to this, revealing that the numbers used by Yin and Yang are governed by nine and six. Yin Qi arises from Heaven, and Yang Qi arises from Earth; hence it is said that Heaven sets its rhythm with 6x6, and Earth regulates its gatherings with 9x9. Since the Way of Qian encompasses and its number is nine, there are Nine Palaces. These correspond above to the Nine Stars of Heaven, below to the Nine Fields of Earth, within humans to the Nine Orifices, and the Nine Fields correspond to the Nine Viscera. Thus, the Classic states: "Since antiquity, those who connect with Heaven understand that life's root lies in Yin and Yang; its Nine Provinces and Nine Orifices all communicate with Heavenly Qi." Therefore, its vital energy is tripartite: three constitute Heaven, three constitute Earth, and three constitute Humanity. Three multiplied by three equals nine. Divided into nine, they become the Nine Fields; the Nine Fields correspond to the Nine Viscera. Thus, the Four Form Viscera and the Five Spirit Viscera combine to form the Nine Viscera, corresponding to them. If not according to Heavenly Principle, how could it be so?
