Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) 5 fen, Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) 5 fen, Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii) 1 qian, Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) 1 qian, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 1.5 qian, Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) 1 qian (stir-fried with wine), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis) 1 qian, Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri) 1.5 qian, Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) 1 qian (stir-fried with wine), Longdancao (Radix et Rhizoma Gentianae) 1.5 qian (stir-fried with wine), Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) 1 qian.
The above herbs are coarsely crushed, combined as one dose, with two zhan of water and one spoonful of wine, decocted until one zhan remains, taken hot after meals.
In the section on Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting Syndrome), Shengjin Ganlu Tang (Saliva-Generating Sweet Dew Decoction) is also known as Qingliang Yinzi (Cooling Drink). Li Dongyuan used it to treat conditions where Heart Fire (Xin Huo) is hyperactive and invades the Spleen and Stomach; this represents a case of "Qi arriving but not reaching," which is considered insufficient, fearing that the Liver and Gallbladder Qi on the left...
Zhuye (Leaf Bambusae) 2 qian (light/weak), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Maimendong (Radix Ophiopogonis), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Shengdihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong).
The above herbs are decocted with two zhong of water until eight parts remain, taken after meals.
Comparing the four formulas repeatedly, only by highlighting Zhuye (Leaf Bambusae) and Huangqi (Radix Astragali), it is made clear that this formula specifically treats Xiao Ke caused by Heat in the Lung Meridian, rather than generally treating Xiao Ke resulting from the binding of the Yangming channels.
Regarding dosage, it further supplements... Fire... Tonification...
Jingshuang Sangye (Frost-Ripe Leaf Mori) 3 qian (remove veins), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum) 7 fen (remove skin and tips, stir-fry until yellow), Maimendong (Radix Ophiopogonis) 1.2 qian (remove heart), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 2.5 qian.
Add one bowl of water, decoct until six parts remain, taken after meals.
Dryness referred to as "clearing" arises from Heaven's dry qi; it should be resolved by clearing heat, unlike internal injury blood dryness which is suitable for moistening. The Lung is called "saving" because Dryness follows Metal; the acridity of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), the sweetness of Maimendong (Radix Ophiopogonis), and the bitterness of Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum) rectify the Qi of the Lung Meridian; Renshen (Radix Ginseng) and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) generate fluids and tonify Earth, cultivating the Mother Qi of the Lung; Sangye (Leaf Mori) enters the Lung... although... discourse...
Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii) 5 qian, Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) 5 qian, Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) 2 qian, Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) 5 qian, Chuan Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis) 2 qian, Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) 5 qian, Huangqi (Radix Astragali) 2 liang, Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 1 liang.
The above herbs are coarsely crushed; each dose uses 3 qian, added with 5 slices of fresh ginger and 2 jujubes, three zhan of water, decocted until one zhan remains, strain and take warm, between breakfast and lunch.
Shengyang Yizhe Tang (Lifting Yang and Benefiting Spleen Decoction) is a formula by Li Dongyuan for treating diseases originating from the Lung Meridian. Generally, when Spleen and Stomach deficiency and decline occur, the Lung is affected first; the descending and purifying function of Metal cannot descend smoothly, then... White... Strengthen... Borrow... Drain...
