Treat chronic urticaria (wind wheals) that does not heal for a long time. Upon each onset, there is initially heart and abdominal pain, excessive phlegm with hiccups, limb numbness, and insensitivity of the sinews and vessels.
Take *Chengkuai Chitu* (Clay in lumps; those containing sand or gravel must not be used) and *Danggui* (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) in equal parts.
Mix the above with cold wine to take two qian per dose, three times daily. Also use external application medicine concurrently.
Take *Huhuocao* (Sedum sarmentosum, also known as *Jingtian* when leaves are large), fresh ginger (with skin, un-washed, in equal amount, ground), and salt (according to quantity).
Apply and massage onto the itchy areas. If the urticaria covers the whole body, apply only where the symptoms are most severe; the rest will subside spontaneously.
Take three to five human teeth, roast until yellow, grind into powder, and take mixed with *Ruxiang* (Boswellia Carterii resin) decoction. I have seen people use this repeatedly, all recovering after one dose. I personally witnessed two cases where this formula was effective, using the method described above. Another method is to calcine the teeth and take them with warm wine. Shortly after ingestion, the sores will erupt.
*Baihu* (Radix Bupleuri), *Jingjiesui* (Herba Schizonepetae), *Qinjiao* (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae), *Zhimu* (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), *Danggui* (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), *Guangui* (Cortex Cinnamomi), *Huoxiang* (Herba Pogostemonis), *Gansong* (Nardostachys Radix), *Baigui* (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, calcined with vinegar), *Chuanwutou* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), *Digupi* (Cortex Lycii), *Biaojiaoxiang* (Resina Commiphorae), *Shaoyao* (Radix Paeoniae Alba) (each half liang), *Jingxiong* (Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong) (one liang), *Zhugen* (Radix Boehmeriae niveae, weighed wet at two liang, cut into pieces).
Clean and dry the above herbs, crush into coarse powder. Take two qian per dose, add one sheng of water, three slices of ginger, and one jujube. Decoct together until reduced to 70% volume, strain, and drink. Take one dose after breakfast, one after lunch, and one before sleep. Combine the dregs from the three doses, decoct again, and consume. Avoid all fish, noodles, and other triggering foods. Abstain from sexual intercourse. Those who fail to observe these dietary and behavioral restrictions will find this medicine ineffective.
Take *Shixinggen* (amount unspecified), grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form a paste, and apply to the sore. Check and replace every two to three days. These two formulas were obtained from Tao Zhongfu, magistrate of Huating. Tao first obtained the *Baihu* formula, which proved miraculous. He accidentally acquired two topical formulas from a village doctor; the two sets complemented each other perfectly, as if divinely matched. While Tao was in Huating, he cured over twenty patients within half a year, an observation made by me while residing in Xiuzhou.
Select a crucian carp three cun in length, remove the intestines, fill the abdomen with *Badou* (Fructus Crotonis) including the skin, bind with hemp rope, wrap with a bundle of straw stalks, and burn until smoke ceases. Grind the residue into powder. Form pills the size of mung beans using rice gruel. Administer one pill with millet beverage. If no bowel movement occurs, increase by one pill. Continue until mild diarrhea is achieved. Maintain this standard daily, ensuring slight purgation until the entire course is completed, then stability is restored. For severe or ulcerated cases, efficacy is even faster. Avoid pork and wind-aggravating foods.
