[Tang] Prescription for treating Dan Malaria (a type of malaria characterized by fever without chills) presenting with heat but no cold. Use Huangdan (Lead Oxide, a mineral drug), calcined until thoroughly red. Administer at the onset of symptoms, mixed with honey water; if the patient can drink alcohol, mix with wine instead. Another method involves exclusively administering Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), followed by Renshen Qianhu Tang (Ginseng and Peucedanum Decoction).
[Zhang Huan] Zhi Mu Dan (Anemarrhena Pill) treats severe pediatric malaria with high fever.
Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, lightly stir-fried), Biejia (Trionycis Carapax, pan-fried with butter, remove the skirt-like edges), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, finely chopped, lightly stir-fried), Chi Fuling (Poria with Hostwood, red variety), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, finely ground and purified by water flotation, each 1 liang), Chuan Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, each 0.5 liang), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 1 qian, ground).
Mix all ingredients evenly, bind with refined honey to form pills the size of millet seeds. Each dose consists of 5 to 7 pills, taken with ginger water. Recovery occurs once bowel movements clear the pathogenic factors. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
*Huoren Shu* (Book of Vitality) treats malaria presenting with heat but no cold.
Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 6 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 2 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 jin), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, bark removed, weighed 3 liang), Jingmi (Oryzae Fructus Germinatus, 2 he).
Chop the herbs into pieces the size of hemp or beans. Each dose is 5 qian, boiled in 1.5 cups of water until reduced to 0.8 cup. Strain and administer.

Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Baishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, each 1 qian), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 10 kernels, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed).

Zhi Mu Mahuang Tang (Anemarrhena and Ephedra Decoction) treats Shanghan (Cold Damage disease). If the condition persists for ten-plus days, half a month, or twenty days, the patient remains listless, often drowsy and appearing spiritless, with confused speech, yet without obvious chills or fever. Physicians may mistakenly attribute this to demonic influence or wind-disease. Various treatments fail. Alternatively, there may be tidal fever morning and evening with flushed cheeks, or alternating chills and fever resembling malaria. These conditions result from incomplete diaphoresis, leaving residual toxins lodged in the Pericardium Collateral network.
Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, each 0.5 liang), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, coarse bark removed, 0.5 liang; reduce by half in midsummer).
Chop into coarse powder. Each dose is 3 qian, boiled in one cup of water until reduced to 0.7 cup. Strain and take warm. Induce slight sweating. If restlessness, insomnia, or thirst occur, provide small amounts of water gradually until stomach qi harmonizes and recovery ensues. If sweating does not occur, administer again. Adjust dosage based on severity.
