All those who consume fish are ingesting cold and raw substances. These foods are very palatable, and many people have a fondness for them. However, excessive consumption makes them difficult to digest, leading to a sensation of fullness and distension in the chest and abdomen, accompanied by mental restlessness and discomfort.
Those who suffer from poisoning after eating various types of fish do so because the fish, while living in water, consumed toxic insects and noxious plants, thereby acquiring toxicity. When humans eat such fish and cannot digest them, it causes dizziness, confusion, and mental disturbance.
The liver of this particular type of fish is toxic. If a person consumes it and suffers from its toxicity, their facial skin will peel off. Although severe, this condition is not fatal.
The liver and the roe (eggs) inside the abdomen of this fish possess high toxicity and should not be eaten; ingestion often leads to death.
This crab feeds on *Hyoscyamus niger* (Shui Gen), which has high toxicity, thus rendering the crab toxic as well. Poisoning by this crab causes severe dizziness, confusion, and a sensation of impending death. However, crabs that have been exposed to frost lose their toxicity and can no longer harm humans. Crabs that have not been frosted, when boiled and eaten, frequently cause poisoning, resulting in dizziness, confusion, and mental unrest.
Vegetables cultivated in gardens and orchards are inherently non-toxic. However, mushrooms and fungi are products of transformation from vegetation. Those growing on trees are called "xun" (mushrooms), and those growing on the ground are called "jun" (fungi). They are generated by the accumulation and steaming of dampness and humidity, and therefore some may contain toxins. Humans who ingest these toxins often die quickly; those who survive still experience severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and remain unconscious or confused for a long time before regaining consciousness.
Wild vegetables such as celery and water caltrop often have toxic insects or leeches attached to them. Accidental ingestion by humans can lead to poisoning, causing dizziness, confusion, and irritability.
Excessive alcohol consumption allows alcohol toxins to permeate the stomach and intestines and overflow into the meridians, causing blood vessels to become engorged. This leads to mental agitation, toxicity, continuous vomiting, and even prolonged unconsciousness lasting several days. In some cases, perforations appear in the abdomen and back, caused by the heat and toxic qi of alcohol. Therefore, moving the body is necessary to help dissipate the alcohol toxin.
Alcohol possesses toxic properties. If consumed and not metabolized, it causes mental agitation, toxicity, stifling sensations, and confusion. For treating these conditions, specific formulas for hot compresses (Tang Re) and acupuncture/stone therapy (Zhen Shi) exist, along with methods for nourishment and guidance (Xuan Dao). These are appended below.
The *Yang Sheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Sit upright, tilt the head back to look at the sky, and exhale the stale qi from drunkenness and overeating. After exhaling, one will immediately feel hungry and sober up.
The nature of alcohol is dispersing and unobstructed, preventing stagnation and accumulation. Thus, drunkenness resolves as sobriety returns because the alcohol disperses along with the blood vessels. Currently, some individuals have stagnant and obstructed Ying and Wei (Defensive and Nutritive Qi), with phlegm and fluid retention. If they drink again without reaching extreme drunkenness or vomiting, the alcohol and phlegm contend with each other and fail to dissipate, resulting in abdominal fullness that does not resolve.
