The Governor Vessel (Du Mai) along the midline has twenty-seven acupoints. Changqiang (Long Strong), Yaoshu (Lumbar Cavity), Yangguan (Yang Pass) are arranged closely; Mingmen (Gate of Life), Xianshu (Suspending Pivot), Jizhong (Spine Center) follow; Jinsuo (Tendon Contraction), Zhiyang (Extreme Yang), Lingtai (Spirit Platform) appear leisurely. Baihui (Hundred Convergences, referred to as "Ding" in text), Xinhui (Fontanelle Convergence), Shangxing (Upper Star) are round. Shenting (Spirit Courtyard), Suliao (Nose Tip, referred to as "Su" in text), Shuigou (Water Ditch/Renzhong) are located in depressions. Duanduan (Exchange End) is at the center of the lip opening. Yinjiao (Gum Intersection) is inside the lip; thus the Ren and Du vessels conclude (twenty-seven points).
This vessel does not utilize the Jing-River-Shu-He Five Shu Points.
The pulse originates from the lower extreme (Huiyin), runs parallel within the spine, ascends to Fengfu, enters the brain, goes up to the vertex, follows the forehead to the nasal bridge, and belongs to the Sea of Yang Vessels. Human meridians circulate through all Yang divisions like water, while the Governor Vessel serves as their main outline, hence named the "Sea". Medication methods are hard to fix rigidly; acupuncture values knowing the function of both the Ren and Du vessels. First, close the four gates (closing external leakage), and observe inward with both eyes. Silently visualize a pearl the size of a millet grain, treating it as the master of Huangting (Yellow Court/Core area). Then slowly swallow a breath, gradually guiding it into the Dantian (Lower Elixir Field). Energize Mingmen, guide the Governor Vessel through Weilu (Tailbone Gate), ascending to Niwan Palace (Head); stir the Xingyuan (Nature Origin), guide the Conception Vessel down Lou (Tower/Throat?), and return to Qihai (Qi Sea). These two vessels rotate up and down like a circle; front descends, back ascends, continuously. The mind should be still as water, the body empty as a pot. Gently lift the anus, gradually close nasal breathing. If breath becomes urgent, swallow slowly to regulate; if spirit remains confused, diligently apply mental focus. Rest when intent tires. Practicing for a long time, orifices open naturally, meridians flow smoothly, and hundred diseases do not arise. Guangchengzi said: Do not stop the alchemical furnace and Heche (River Cart/Internal Alchemy terms). This is what is meant. The Du and Ren vessels are originally the path to truth; Daoist classics set forth many words. I now point out the profound principle, hoping everyone lives ten thousand years!
