The Eight Crossing Points (Jiao Jing Ba Xue) are the essence of acupuncture. However, it is unknown which physician originally described them. The preface states that they were transmitted by a hermit of Mount Shaoshi, and their efficacy has been verified more profoundly in recent times. In my youth, I obtained the original text from the recluse Song Zihua. I practiced this technique for forty-one years between the Yellow River and the Huai River, rescuing numerous critical patients with immediate results, which are too numerous to count. My passion for this technique was no less than Liu Ling's (courtesy name Bolun) love for wine. Alas, I regret that when I first began learning this art, my understanding of the mental principles was incomplete, and my manual skills were not yet refined, when war and fire repeatedly struck, causing all my family's medical charts and the original texts to be lost. It has been fifteen years since then; I have eagerly sought them but without success. Recently, I obtained them from the Wang family in Tongtai Beizi. The originals were exactly as those kept in old families, with only one or two characters erroneous or illegible, which did not cause any harm. I re-verified this technique, finding it precise and swift in every aspect, curing diseases without exception. If diagnosis is clear and the upper and lower meridians are coordinated to attack the disease, like assembling royal troops to capture minor traitors and thieves, even if there are failures, they would be few. Oh! How miraculous this technique is! To obtain it now is indeed Heaven's great favor upon me. However, my passion is not for personal gain, but for the well-being of the people, wishing that they might be free from itching, epilepsy, pain, chronic weakness, disability, and severe illness. As for whether students share this passion, that is beyond my presumption.

The above method involves first needling the point for the main symptom, locating points according to the disease's position on the left, right, upper, or lower body. One must still follow the meridians, palpate, guide, and remove the pathogen according to the method. If the disease persists, one must seek the paired point (He-sea point connection). If it still does not resolve, one must retain the needle to await the arrival of Qi, allowing the upper and lower meridians to connect, until the patient feels relief from their suffering, and then withdraw the needle.
