Can Sha Yin (Mulberry Silkworm Faeces Decoction): Take four liang of Can Sha (Bombyx Batryticatus, silkworm faeces), stir-fry until half-yellow in color. Add one jin and a half of Huang Jiu (Chinese Rice Wine; sweet wine is also acceptable). Boil in a clay pot, remove the residue of Can Sha, and drink the liquid.
If amenorrhea is caused by Qi stagnation and blood obstruction, use Kai Yu Er Chen Tang (Regulate Stagnation Two-Chen Decoction): Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Fu Ling (Poria), Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Zhi Xiang Fu (Prepared Cyperi Rhizoma), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), each one qian.
Si Zhi Xiang Fu Wan (Four-Processed Cyperi Pill) is an essential medicine commonly used by women. Take one jin of pure Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma), soaked for three days each in wine, vinegar, salt water, and Tong Bian (Child's Urine), then dried and powdered. Mix with eight liang of Wu Yao (Linderae Radix), grind into powder, make pills with vinegar paste, and swallow with boiled water.
If there is excessive phlegm, use Qian Sha Dao Tan Wan (Cang Zhu and Cyperi Phlegm-Guiding Pill) mentioned earlier. Additionally, take the aforementioned Kai Yu Er Chen Tang, removing E Zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma), adding one qian of Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), and taking it orally.
Women who have reached marriageable age but remain unmarried, concubines who have lost favor, widows living alone, and nuns in temples, whose desires are aroused but cannot be satisfied, harbor resentment and indignation that cannot be expressed, often suffer from amenorrhea. They hide their shame and endure it silently, unwilling to let others know, leading to Lao Zhai (Consumptive Disease/Tuberculosis-like condition), which ultimately becomes incurable. In such cases, Si Zhi Xiang Fu Wan (Four-Processed Cyperi Pill) and Shen Zhu Da Bu Wan (Ginseng and Atractylodes Great Tonifying Pill) should be used. Combining purging and tonifying methods may lead to recovery. These conditions resulting from the Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pensiveness, Sorrow, Fear, Fright) cannot be treated by standard methods alone.
For cases of amenorrhea accompanied by bone-steaming tidal fever and a deficient pulse, use Zeng Jian Ba Wu Chai Hu Tang (Modified Eight-Ingredient Bupleurum Decoction): Tai Dang Shen (Codonopsis Radix or Codonopsis Pilosula), Fu Ling (Poria), each one qian; Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), five fen; Dang Gui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix - root tip), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix). If sweating occurs, add Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex); if no sweating, add Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), two qian each. Add fifteen Pian (slices) of Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatheri Herba), decoct in water, and take orally. This formula is suitable for all women with blood deficiency and internal heat. If the heat is severe and this formula does not stabilize the condition, add one qian of Hei Gan Jiang (Charred Zingiberis Rhizoma), yielding miraculous effects.
For amenorrhea accompanied by fever, dry throat, dry lips, and a full/excess pulse, use Si Wu Liang Ge San (Four-Substance Cooling Chest Powder): Dang Gui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix - root tip), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Chi Shao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix - wine-fried), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma - wine-fried), Shan Zhi (Gardeniae Fructus - charred black), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), each one qian; Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Bo He Ye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium), each five fen; Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatheri Herba), ten slices.
