Sha Qi (Sha toxic qi) stagnates and fills the chest and diaphragm. In severe cases, even if one does not eat for ten or five days, it is no harm; one should only wait until the Sha Qi has completely dissipated before providing food. When the condition initially subsides and hunger is felt, if food is consumed abruptly, the condition will immediately worsen. One must endure for one or two days to ensure complete safety. After Sha disease, meat and fish should be avoided for several days to prevent recurrence. After dysentery, some may lose their appetite, while others may experience bloating and pain after eating. There are also cases where patients are harmed by starvation due to suspicion of Shanghan (Cold Damage). Dietary management in these situations requires careful consideration. Precautions and prohibitions must be examined with utmost prudence.
Ginger (strictly forbidden in Sha conditions, do not use as a medicinal guide), Longan fruit, Jujube (both commonly used as medicinal guides), spicy sauce, flower Sichuan pepper, tobacco, tea, strong liquor, vinegar, wheat flour products, vermicelli, gluten, sticky rice dumplings, pork and mutton, chicken, fish, garlic, scallions, mustard greens, melons, eggplants, water caltrops, sweets, peaches, plums, apricots.
If Sha disease is accompanied by drinking congee soup, hot water, or hot wine, mild cases will become severe, and severe cases will become critical. Eating rice-based foods may cause Sha masses to form, leading to other diseases over time that are difficult to treat. It is contraindicated to bathe in hot water, as this drives the toxic vapors further into the abdomen.
Black brown sugar activates blood circulation, resolves stasis, and detoxifies Sha poison. For pain caused by blood stasis, consumption brings relief. Salt detoxifies Sha poison and alleviates pain; it can be used to induce vomiting to expel recently ingested food. Taro treats Sha heat and detoxifies; patients with Sha disease find raw taro delicious. Centipede grass (Dengxin Cao) decoction is suitable for thirst and can serve as a medicinal guide. Sorghum juice, Hawthorn decoction, Radish seed decoction, Reed root decoction, Water chestnut, Lily bulb, Lotus root, and Watermelon.
Once the pain stops and hunger returns, one may consume rice soup, clear rice gruel, or rice paste, but in small amounts. These must be consumed cold; otherwise, relapse may occur (cooking old barley porridge is ideal).
To chew raw taro with hairs without feeling numbness: verified effective for Ban Sha (Spotted Sha). Chewing raw soybeans finely eliminates the bean odor. The above two methods can test for Sha and also detoxify.
Burned salt water, cooled and administered to induce vomiting, or salt heated red-hot on a shovel spatula and dissolved in water for drinking. Alum powder, mixed with Yin-Yang water, taken orally in 2 qian (approx. 6-10g), up to 3 qian; induces vomiting. If vomiting does not occur, administer again. These two methods induce vomiting of new food to block Sha toxins and are effective for emergency rescue through induced vomiting.
Yin-Yang Soup: Mix half cool water and half boiling water. Yin-Yang water refers to mixing well water and river water equally; water separated by an intermediate layer is also drinkable. Muddy water can be drunk; for swelling caused by summerheat contracted on the road, use "Yangtian Pi" water clarified by stirring. White sugar mixed with plum juice. Asarum powder mixed with Amomum decoction, taken cold. This method treats Sha caused by Qi obstruction and cold contraction. Late silkworm sand (Can Sha) powdered, taken cold with boiling water. Dozens of hair strands burned to ash, mixed with 2 qian of alum powder, taken with cool water to induce vomiting.
Aged Bergamot orange decoction, taken cold. Aged Citrus medica decoction, taken cold. A handful of sheep manure soaked in boiling water, covered with bowls for an hour, filtered, and drunk when extremely cold. Child's urine, drunk continuously for about one bowl. Radish tops decoction. Reed root decoction, taken slightly warm. Sorghum seeds or sorghum root decoction, taken cold. Mung bean decoction, taken warm; water used for washing mung bean powder is also acceptable. Raw tofu slurry, about one bowl. Sesame oil, one liang (approx. 30-50g) administered orally. Rapeseed oil 2 liang mixed with Musk 1 qian, administered to comatose patients to restore consciousness immediately. Luffa leaf juice, drunk (also stops cholera). Dragon's Liver Earth (Zao Xin Tu, soil from the center of the cooking stove) soaked in water, drunk (stops vomiting). Corner of the eye heals.
