The Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian originates at the tip of the ring finger, ascends between the ring and middle fingers, follows the dorsal aspect of the wrist, emerges between the two bones of the forearm, ascends through the elbow, follows the lateral aspect of the upper arm, reaches the shoulder, and crosses posterior to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. It enters the supraclavicular fossa (Quepen), spreads in the Danzhong region, disperses and connects with the Pericardium, descends through the diaphragm, and extensively belongs to the Triple Energizer (Sanjiao). Its branch arises from the Danzhong region, ascends out of the supraclavicular fossa, goes up the neck, ties behind the ear, ascends straight to the upper corner of the ear, then curves downward to the cheek and reaches the outer canthus. Another branch enters the ear from behind the ear, emerges anterior to the ear, passes anterior to the Shangguan acupoint (Keguzhuren), crosses the cheek, and arrives at the outer canthus. When this meridian is affected, disorders include deafness, swelling of the zygomatic area, sore throat, and throat obstruction. Diseases generated by Qi disturbances governed by this meridian manifest as sweating, pain in the outer canthus, cheek pain, pain in the ear, shoulder, elbow, and lateral arm, and dysfunction of the ring finger. In excess conditions, the Renying pulse is one times larger than the Qikou pulse; in deficiency conditions, the Renying pulse is smaller than the Qikou pulse.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian is named Waiguan, located two cun distal to the wrist crease, winding around the arm to inject into the chest, connecting with the Heart Master (Pericardium) Meridian. In excess conditions, it causes elbow contracture; in deficiency conditions, it causes flaccidity and inability to flex. Treatment involves selecting its Luo point.
The Sinew Meridian of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao originates at the tip of the ring finger, binds at the wrist, ascends along the arm, binds at the elbow, winds around the lateral edge of the elbow, ascends to the shoulder, travels along the neck, and connects with the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian. Its branch enters at the angle of the jaw and ties to the root of the tongue. Another branch ascends to the Xiaya acupoint, follows the anterior aspect of the ear, attaches to the outer canthus, surmounts the mandible, and binds at the frontal angle. Disorders occur at the sites traversed, presenting as牵引 spasms and tongue retraction. Treatment utilizes burning needle puncture (Fanzhen Jiesi), taking improvement as the criterion and pain points as acupoints, known as Summer-Heat Bi syndrome.
When pathogenic factors invade the collateral vessels of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian, they cause throat obstruction, tongue retraction, dry mouth, irritability, pain on the lateral aspect of the arm, and inability to raise the hand to the head. Puncture the nail corners of the middle and ring fingers, one cun from the tips. Improvement occurs immediately in robust individuals and after a short while in the elderly. Treat left for right and right for left. Combined with treatment for new-onset cases, recovery occurs within several days.
The Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian runs from the hand to the head, measuring five chi in length, totaling one zhang for both sides, with forty-six acupoints in total.

Regarding the Hand-Shaoyang Meridian, it has less blood and more Qi. Needling should aim to expel Qi and evil blood. The meridian runs from hand to head. Following the flow is "Sui," opposing it is "Ying." Excess is drained, deficiency is tonified, heat is treated with rapid manipulation, cold is treated with retention, sinking conditions are treated with moxibustion, and balanced conditions are treated by regulating the meridian itself. This is the method for treating the Hand-Shaoyang Meridian.
