Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Poria (Fuling) (each 1 liang), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Platycodon Root (Jiegeng) (each 1 liang), Asarum (Xixin) (3 liang), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) (1 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder. Take one cup of water, add one qian of the powder, and decoct until reduced to five fen. Strain the dregs after meals and take warm.
Antelope Horn Decoction (Lingyangjiao Tang): Treats Qingfeng internal cataract (a type of internal eye disease), where fatigue and overwork cause visual dimness and heaviness, dizziness and brain pain, and pain and astringency inside the eyes.
Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen), Groundcherry Root Bark (Digupi), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo) (each 1 liang), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) (1.5 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder. Take one cup of water, add one qian of the powder, and decoct until reduced to five fen. Strain the dregs after meals and take warm.
The above four formulas all use Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen), Asarum (Xixin), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), and Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) as the sovereign drugs (Jun Yao). This is because Antelope Horn enters the Jueyin Meridian. Danxi said: "Antelope Horn enters the Jueyin Meridian very swiftly." Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen) and Asarum (Xixin) are herbs that act on the Shaoyin Meridian. Haicang said: "Scrophularia Root treats the misty qi in the air and rootless fire; it is a holy medicine." Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), and Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) are herbs that act on the Taiyang Meridian. If the sinews and vessels are withered and astringent, add Prunella Spike (Xiakucao) to the various formulas. It can dissipate nodulated qi and has the effect of nourishing the Jueyin blood vessels. Attempts have proven effective. However, for these formulas, one must understand the location of the pathogenic factor. If there is Qi collapse, it must be taken half with Ginseng Paste (Shen Gao). If there is Qi deficiency, it must be taken half with Dongyuan's Stomach-Nourishing Ginseng Decoction (Buweirenshen Tang) or Qi-Boosting and Brightening Decoction (Yiqi Congming Tang), etc. If there is Blood deficiency, it must be taken concurrently with Rehmannia Pill (Shudihuang Wan), etc. Furthermore, one should practice inner observation and stillness, not being disturbed by worldly affairs, so that Yin Qi becomes calm and level, only then can efficacy be expected.
Aloe Pill (Luhui Wan): Treats Heishui Ningyi internal cataract (black water coagulating film internal cataract), without pain or itching, with slight dizziness and a choppy pulse.
Aloe (Luhui), Licorice Root (Gancao) (each 1 fen), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Ox Bile (Niudan) (each 0.5 liang), Biota Seed (Baiziren), Asarum (Xixin) (each 1 liang), Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao) (2 liang, honey-fried).
Grind the above herbs into powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take ten pills with tea on an empty stomach.
Fallen Film Pill (Zhuayi Wan): Treats Crescent Moon Film (Yanyue Yi), Bundled Flower Film (Shuhua Yi), and other diseases, with slight dizziness and forehead pain.
Blue Sheep Gallbladder (Qingyangdan), Blue Fish Gallbladder (Qingyudan), Carp Gallbladder (Liyudan) (each seven), Bear Gallbladder (Xiongdan) (1 fen), Ox Bile (Niudan) (0.5 liang), Musk (Shexiang) (a little), Abalone Shell (Shijueming).
Grind the above herbs into powder, use flour paste to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take ten pills with tea on an empty stomach.
Wind-Expelling Decoction (Chufeng Tang): Treats Five Winds transforming into internal cataract, with dizziness, unilateral swelling and pain, and whitening of the pupil.
Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi), Peony Root (Shaoyao), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Poria (Fuling), Rhubarb (Dahuang), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Mirabilite (Mangxiao) (each 1 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder. Take one cup of water, add one qian of the powder, and decoct until reduced to five fen. Strain the dregs after meals and take warm.
Magnetite Pill (Cishi Wan): Treats Thunder Wind Internal Cataract, with dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.
Magnetite (Cishi) (heated red, quenched in vinegar twice), Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi), Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen) (each 1 liang), Aconite Root (Fuzi) (processed, 0.5 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take ten pills with tea before meals.
Many formulas for treating the eyes use Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), but Sheep Liver Pill (Yanggan Wan) is particularly remarkable. Use one liang of Coptis Rhizome powder and one whole white sheep liver. Remove the membrane, grind together in a porcelain basin until extremely fine, and form into pills sized like tung tree seeds by hand. Take thirty pills with warm water each time. Complete five courses consecutively. It treats all kinds of eye diseases, including films, cataracts, and blindness. Avoid pork and cold water. In the Tang Dynasty, Cui Chengyuan was an official who saved a death row prisoner. Years later, the prisoner died from an eye disease. One day, Cui was troubled by internal cataracts and lost his sight. Over a year later, sitting alone at midnight sighing, he suddenly heard a sound on the steps. Cui asked who it was. The voice replied: "I am the prisoner you spared years ago, here to repay your kindness." He then revealed this formula and disappeared. Following this prescription, within a few months, his eyesight recovered.
Another Formula: Treats internal cataract.
White Ram Liver (Baijie Yanggan) (use only one slice of the sub-liver, thinly sliced, baked on new tile), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang) (1.5 liang), Dodder Seed (Tusizi), Bleeding Heart Seed (Ruiren), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi), Ophiopogon Tuber (Mendong), Kochia Fruit (Difuzi) (dehusked), Alisma Rhizome (Zexie), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), White Poria (Baifuling), Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi), Cinnamon Twig (Guixin), Apricot Kernel (Xingren) (stir-fried), Asarum (Xixin), Goji Berry (Gouqizi), Leech Grass Seed (Chongweizi), Thladiantha Fruit (Kutingli), Celosia Seed (Qingxiangzi) (each 1 liang).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take thirty to forty pills each time with warm water, three times a day, at any time. Zhang Taiqing suffered from dark vision. Doctors in the capital advised him to moxa the Ganshu acupoint, which resulted in total blindness. He obtained this formula, and his eyesight cleared. A man suffered from internal cataract; medical treatment was ineffective. I left this formula for him. One night by lamplight, he told his family: "I just happened to see something, like seeing fire through a door crack." At dawn, upon examination, the film in his eyes had cracked like threads. Zhang Yun said: "This medicine is potent; do not give it casually. If disregarded, it will be ineffective." I believe this even more and wish to spread it widely.
The Classics state: "Liver deficiency leads to blurred vision (KT KT) and inability to see, inability to hear, fearfulness as if being chased." Haicang said: "Closed eyes or blurred vision (Mingmian) is due to Liver Qi dysfunction."
Another: Liver-Calming and Eye-Brightening Sheep Liver Pill (Zhen Gan Mingmu Yanggan Wan)
Ram Liver (Jieyanggan) (one whole, stir-fried in a new tile pot then baked; if large, use only half), Chrysanthemum Flower (Ganju), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), Biota Seed (Baiziren), Asarum (Xixin), Official Cinnamon (Guangui), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu), Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi) (each 0.5 liang), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) (3 fen).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take thirty to forty pills with warm water on an empty stomach before meals.
[Qianjin Fang] Liver-Nourishing Powder (Bugan San): Formula for treating blindness.
Blue Sheep Liver (Qingyanggan) (one whole, remove membrane, slice thinly, place in unused new clay bottle, roast over charcoal into extremely fine powder), Smartweed Seed (Liaozi) (one he, stir-fry until fragrant).
Grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi after meals, twice daily, increasing to three bi. Not exceeding one or two courses. If taken for one year, one can read small print at night.
Formula for treating blurred vision and inability to see: Use one blue sheep liver, finely chopped, boil in ten dou of water in a copper vessel. Cover with a rice cake, drill two holes in the cake the size of human eyes, and steam the eyes over the holes. No more than two steamings, and it will heal.
[Jisheng Fang] Liver-Nourishing Pill (Yanggan Wan): Treats Liver Blood deficiency, causing blurred vision, or production of eye discharge and tears.
Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) (wine-washed), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) (wine-steamed, baked), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng) (remove rhizome), White Peony Root (Baishaoyao), Bleeding Heart Seed (Ruiren) (separately ground), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang) (wine-steamed, baked), Ligusticum Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Immature Tangerine Peel (Zhishi) (equal parts).
Grind into powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take seventy pills with hot water, at any time.
[Bencao Gangmu] Suwen states: "Prolonged viewing damages Blood." Blood governs the Liver, so diligent writing injures the Liver. The Liver governs eye dimness. Liver injury generates internal wind, heat rises, causing eye dimness. One should not exclusively take tonifying medicines; simply taking medicines that benefit Blood, calm the Liver, and brighten the eyes will lead to self-healing.
Rehmannia Pill (Shudihuang Wan)
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang) (1.5 liang), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Cassia Seed (Juemingzi) (each 1 liang), Myrrh (Moyao) (0.5 liang), Chrysanthemum Flower (Ganjuhua) (2 liang), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo) (each 1 liang), Cinnamon Twig (Guixin) (5 qian), Cinnabar (Zhusha) (5 qian).
Grind into fine powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take thirty pills with hot water, after meals, three times a day.
[Qianjin Fang] Formula for brightening eyes and preventing hair whitening/falling.
Soak Sophora Seed (Huai Zi) in Ox Gallbladder, dry in shade for one hundred days. After meals, swallow one pill daily. Ten days: body feels light. Thirty days: white hair turns black again. One hundred days: spiritual clarity achieved.
If Gallbladder Heat transfers to the Brain, it causes nasal congestion (Xin), progressing to Nasal Sinusitis (Bi Yuan), transmitting to Epistaxis (Nv) and closed/blurred eyes (Mingmu). (Full text see Diagnosis and Transmission of Diseases.)
The Classics state: "The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, when moved, causes illness such as wanting to rise from sitting, and blurred vision (KT KT) as if unable to see." It also says: "What Shaoyin calls rising and experiencing blurred vision (KT KT) and inability to see is due to internal depletion of Yin Essence, hence blurred vision (KT KT) and inability to see." This is likely eye dimness caused by sexual exhaustion.
Formulas for treating dilated pupils are found in the previous section "Yin Deficiency with Dilated Pupils and Blurred Vision."
[Li Dongyuan] Yiben Zishen Pill (Must be taken concurrently with the previous "Yin Deficiency with Dilated Pupils" section.)
Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai) (remove bark, crush, wine-wash, stir-fry), Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu) (remove hairs, crush, wine-wash, stir-fry. Equal parts).
Grind into extremely fine powder, drop water to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take one hundred fifty pills with hot water, on an empty stomach. Press down with dry food after taking.
[Jisheng Fang] Kidney-Tonifying Pill (Bushen Wan): Treats Kidney Qi deficiency, causing dim vision, unclear pupils, and gradual onset of internal cataract.
Magnetite (Cishi) (calcined, quenched in vinegar seven times, water-flown), Dodder Seed (Tusizi) (wine-steamed twice. Each 2 liang), Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang) (wine-steamed, baked), Goji Berry (Gouqizi), Chinese Wolfberry Fruit (Chushizi), Raspberry (Fupenzi) (wine-soaked), Cistanche Stem (Roucongrou) (wine-soaked, baked), Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi) (wine-steamed), Dendrobium Stem (Shihu) (remove roots. Each 1 liang), Agarwood (Chenxiang), Green Salt (Qingyan) (these two separately ground. Each 0.5 liang).
Grind into powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take seventy pills with salt water on an empty stomach.
[Qianjin Fang] Shenqu Pill mainly brightens eyes; one can read small print at age one hundred.
Medicated Leaven (Shenqu) (4 liang), Magnetite (Cishi) (calcined, quenched in vinegar seven times, 1 liang), Guangming Sand (Shuifei, 1 liang).
Grind into powder, refine honey to make pills, sized like tung tree seeds. Take five pills with rice drink, before meals, three times a day. Regular use benefits eyesight. This formula is miraculous and cannot be fully described.
[Waitai Mi Yao] Treats years-long blindness, inability to recognize people. Cassia Seed (Juemingzi) two sheng, pounded into powder. Take one fangcun bi with porridge drink after meals. (Compendium says: Cassia Seed is slightly cold, assists Liver Qi, benefits Jing Water.)
[Qianjin Fang] White Melon Seeds (Baiguazi) seven sheng, placed in silk bag, boiled in water three times, dried. Soaked in five sheng of vinegar overnight. Dried, pounded into powder. Take one fangcun bi mixed with wine, three times a day. After one hundred days, one can read at night. (Compendium says: White Melon Seed is neutral-cold. Waitai Mi Yao names it Liver-Nourishing Powder, treating Five Labors and Seven Injuries. Vinegar, sour, enters the Liver.)
In the theory of Six Qi, there are four types of eye dimness:
First is Wind-Heat. The Classics say: "When Shaoyin governs Heaven, Wind and Heat are distributed together, clouds and things boil, Taiyang flows horizontally, Cold arrives, cycles repeat, the people suffer deafness and blindness (Mingmian)." This is eye dimness caused by Wind-Heat distribution.
Second is Heat. The Classics say: "When Shaoyin is in Earth, Heat dominates excessively, causing closed/blurred eyes (Mingmian), treat with acupuncture cooling." This is eye dimness caused by excessive Heat.
Third is Wind. It also says: "When Year Water is insufficient, Dampness spreads greatly, returning brings great wind storms, vision becomes blurred (KT KT)." This is eye dimness caused by excessive Wind.
Fourth is Dryness. The Classics say: "When Yangming governs Heaven, Dryness dominates excessively, causing dim/obscured eyes and ulcers, treat with bitter-hot [methods]." This is it.
[Bencao Gangmu] The hardship of reading indeed damages the Liver and eyes. Fan Ning of the Jin Dynasty suffered from eye pain and sought a formula from Zhang Zhan. Zhang joked: "Anciently, Song Yangzi learned this art, taught it to Lu Dongmen Bo, then to Zuo Qiuming, passed down generations to Han Du Zixia and Jin Zuo Taichong. All these sages had eye diseases. This formula uses: reduce reading by one, reduce thinking by two, focus inward by three, simplify outward observation by four, wake up late by five, sleep early by six. These six items, refined by divine fire, stored in the chest with Qi accumulation for seven days, then taken in fangcun doses. Practice for one year, near vision can count eyelashes, far vision can see beyond one chi. Long-term use allows seeing through walls, not just brightening eyes but extending life. If practiced thus, it is not mockery, but a miraculous formula."
[Luo Qianfu] Vice Minister Zhang Zijing, aged sixty-seven, suffered from dim vision, slight black discoloration, lusterless skin, and string-taut, thin, weak pulses. One day he showed me two eye formulas, asking if they were suitable. I said: "These medicines use Huanglian, a very bitter drug, as sovereign, and various wind-expelling drugs as ministers. Moreover, at age fifty, gallbladder bile decreases and vision dims. Neijing says: 'For the ruler of Earth position, purge with bitter.' Purging wind drugs also purges Earth. At age sixty, Spleen and Stomach are deficient, skin and flesh wither. Further purging Earth makes Spleen and Stomach deficient, unable to circulate Ying and Wei Qi, nourish Yuan Qi. Stomach Qi cannot ascend, Diaphragm Qi causes vomiting, various diseases arise. Especially since he is old and weak, these medicines are unsuitable. He should only guard speech, regulate diet, curb anger, and restrain desires. This is the treatment of non-treatment." Zijing agreed. The following spring, he was appointed Inspector of Guanxi Road. Three years later, he retired and returned, his spirit refreshed, pulse peaceful. This was due to not taking cold-cooling agents. Neijing says: "Punishing the innocent is called great confusion," which can be explained.
[Lingshu] Yellow Emperor said: "Why do people weep when grieving? What Qi causes this?" Qibo said: "The Heart is the master of the Five Viscera and Six Bowels. The Eyes are the gathering place of Zong Mai (Grand Vessels) and the upper pathway of fluids. The Mouth and Nose are the gates of Qi. Thus, grief and sorrow move the Heart; moving the Heart shakes all Five Viscera and Six Bowels. Shaking affects Zong Mai; affecting Zong Mai opens the fluid pathways. When fluid pathways open, tears flow. Fluids are used to irrigate essence and moisten orifices. Thus, when upper fluid pathways open, one cries. If crying does not stop, fluids deplete. If fluids deplete, essence is not irrigated. If essence is not irrigated, the eyes cannot see. Hence it is called 'Depriving Essence' (Duojing). Tonify Tianzhu Jing along the neck. (Along the neck refers to the midline of the head.)"
There are four methods of acupuncture for internal cataracts; this chapter is the first.
The second method targets the Liver. The Classics say: "Liver deficiency leads to blurred vision (KT KT) and inability to see, fearfulness. Take the Jueyin and Shaoyin meridians; extracting blood is correct."
The third method targets the Kidney. The Classics say: "Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, when moved, causes blurred vision (KT KT) and inability to see. Treat according to Cold, Heat, Excess, and Deficiency."
The fourth method targets Yang Qiao. The Classics say: "Where pathogens reside, there is deficiency. Upper Qi deficiency causes closed/blurred eyes (Mingmian). Tonify below the outer ankle and retain."
[Yuji Weiyi] Eyes long diseased with blurred vision: Ganshu (1 fen, along skin outward 1.5 cun, tonify three exhales). Zusanli (1 cun, drain ten inhales). Tongziliao.
[Dai Ren] Dai Ren's daughter's maid went to Xihua and suddenly went blind. Dai Ren said: "This is Minister Fire. Taiyang and Yangming, Qi and Blood are abundant. Therefore, puncture the Zanzhu acupoint in the nose and five acupoints on the neck, causing heavy bleeding, and the eyes immediately brightened."
[Jiayingjing] Qingmang (blindness), distant vision unclear, Chengguang governs it. Pupil itching, distant vision blurred (KT KT), no vision at night, eye twitching, pulling to neck and mouth, inability to speak, puncture Chengqi. Closed/blurred eyes (Mingmian), sweating, Chengjiang governs it.
[Cuoyao] Eyes without light: Shangyang (1 fen, along skin backward 3 fen, drain, moxa).
[Jiayingjing] Qingmang (blindness), Shangyang governs it. Squinting eyes (KT Mu), blurred vision (KT KT), Pianli governs it. Squinting eyes (KT Mu), blurred vision (KT KT), shortness of Qi, moxa Shouwuli, left take right, right take left. Closed/blurred eyes (Mingmian), distant blurred vision (KT KT), Muchuang governs it. Qingmang squinting eyes (KT Mu), aversion to wind and cold, Shangguan governs it.
[Longmu Lun] Song of the Root Cause of Internal Cataracts:
No pain, no itch, gradually dimming, like thin fog and light smoke thickening,
Sometimes seeing flies flying or flowers scattering, sometimes like silk cotton in the void.
How did this condition arise? Heat and Wind lingering in the Liver,
Screaming, crying, startling, and fearing, brain fat flows into the black pupil.
Initially one eye dims first, sequentially affecting the other,
Why need bitter words against contrary ears? Only because Liver Qi does not communicate.
At this time, medication should stabilize, improper care renders it useless,
After long days, total darkness ensues, commonly named Internal Cataract obscuring both pupils.
Names divided into sixteen based on shape, Dragon Master and Sages deduce deeply,
Miraculous drugs rarely show effect now, Golden Needle拨 (拨 means to push aside/dial) clears the sky like the sun.
Strengthen care according to previous sayings, do not let previous illnesses retrace their steps.
Song of Acupuncture Method for Internal Cataracts:
Internal Cataracts originate in sixteen types, students of medicine must examine carefully,
Clearly knowing each shape one by one, only then can needle insertion be safe.
If needle method is confused with Round Opacity, damaging Divine Light makes recovery difficult,
Clarify Cold and Heat, Deficiency and Excess first, harmonize four limbs waiting for peace.
Otherwise, Qi stagnation violates care, vomiting and distress cause opacity to flip,
Coughing and shaking head are not permitted, if much startled, first take Calming Heart Pill,
If seeking cooling medicines like Silver Paste, pay attention to temporary conditions.
Old opacity needs fine needle, initially restoring tenderness, needle shape cannot be uniform,
Patient deficiency, postpartum, or pregnancy months, handling reveals difficulty in care.
No rain, no wind, plus bright moon, pure fast for three days before needling,
Settle mind and intent practicing medicine way, chanting Buddha, relatives do not mix noise.
Patient sits cross-legged facing brightness, tightening belt brings peace of mind,
Needler walks the path of sages, compassion is truly a good karma.
If blood appears, do not panic, stop hand, wrap seal as before, open again to look,
Suddenly startled/shaken, doctor re-evaluates, taking medicine for thirty days sees clarity.
Seven days unseal, hard to see, peanut water moves, do not speak otherwise,
Return Eye Pill/Powder, firm heart takes, one hundred days clearly restores old root.
Song of Post-Needling Method for Internal Cataracts:
When Internal Cataract Golden Needle is done, physician's words must be deeply understood,
Cotton wrapped black beans like balls, arranged on eye tied daily.
Sleeping pillow must be stable, lying supine three days do not dislike delay,
After sealing suddenly slight pain, Brain Wind pulling do not doubt otherwise.
Either needle or cauterize according to Classic method, extreme pain still use fire ironing,
Intending vomit, hold white plum, swallow juice, vomiting comes lie supine follow it.
Rising fears suffering strain damage, although rare must know,
Seven days soy porridge warm eat, clenching jaw matters not suitable.
Urination and defecation must be slow, do not let self-rise and support,
High voice calling speaking much later, startling eye wheel seeing snow fly,
Such sincere heart thirty days, gradually walking in/out recognizing relatives/knowing.
Wild mind do not recall Yin-Yang matters, husband wife separate beds one hundred days period,
One month do not need face washing, needle mark wet touching pain slightly,
Five pungents, wine, noodles one year cut off, taking medicine calmly removes disease root base.
Above is the Great Method of Golden Needle Opening Internal Cataract from *Longmu Yu*. Carefully following its method: when initially suffering eye internal cataract, the eye is not painful, astringent, or itchy, head does not spin or hurt, but the opacity has formed. It is appropriate to use golden needle to dial away the opacity, like parting clouds to see the sun and gaining brightness. Now presenting its outline below.
Diagram of Opening Internal Cataract
Round Opacity (Yuan Yi) (At initial onset, seeing flies flying, flowers appearing, hanging ants, thin smoke light fog, first affecting one eye, sequentially affecting both, all round opacities like oil drops floating in water, appear smaller in sunlight, larger in shade, golden needle one dial removes them.) Slippery Opacity (Hua Yi) (Opacity like mercury beads, suitable for golden needle dialing.) Rough Opacity (Se Yi) (Opacity like congealed fat color, suitable for needle dialing.) Floating Opacity (Fu Yi) (Hides deep in the eye, visible only with careful looking, suitable for deep needle dialing.) Horizontal Opacity (Heng Yi) (Horizontal like sword ridge, thin sides thick center, suitable for needle dialing at the thick center. Above five opacities all affect one eye first, subsequently both damaged. At initial onset, eye painful/astringent, head spinning/forehead hurting, even if opacity exists, hard to needle dial. Only Crescent Moon Opacity, Date Flower Opacity, Black Water Coagulating Opacity, slight...
