Discourse states: Irregular menstruation refers to menstrual blood volume being either excessive or scanty, consistency being either clear and thin or turbid, onset occurring either earlier than expected or delayed. This is generally caused by a lack of proper care and regulation, leading to deficiency and damage in the Chong (Penetrating) and Ren (Conception) vessels, causing the Qi of Tian Gui (substances promoting reproductive maturation) to deviate from its normal rhythm. Therefore, the *Neijing* states: "When the Ren vessel is unobstructed and the Chong vessel is vigorous, menstruation arrives on time." This indicates that menstruation should follow a regular cycle.
