Discourse states: The manifestations of Kidney Wind include excessive sweating and aversion to wind, pain in the spine preventing upright standing, a dark complexion, and dysfunction in urination or sexual activities. The diagnosis is located on the skin; if the color is black, it indicates Kidney Wind.
The root of the body lies in the Kidney, which receives the essence, qi, and spirit from the five zang and six fu organs to nourish the hundred bones and nine orifices. When the Kidney is invaded by Wind pathogen, the Qi of all Yang meridians cannot ascend to the head and face, resulting in facial edema. Those with deficient Yang Qi will experience excessive sweating and aversion to wind. Since the Kidney governs the bones, weak bones lead to spinal pain and inability to stand. Mental decline results in dullness of will, frequent fear, and forgetfulness; these are all syndromes of Kidney Wind.
To treat Kidney Wind presenting as lower back pain when squatting or rising, swollen and heavy painful feet, tinnitus, dark complexion, and low mood, use Haitongpi San (Haitong Bark Powder).
Haitongpi (Cortex Tinosporae, sliced) Wujia Pi (Cortex Acanthopanacis, coarse bark removed, sliced) Bixie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, stir-fried) Yiyiren (Semen Coicis, stir-fried, each 1 liang) Hugu (Os Tigridis, coated with butter, roasted until yellow) Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, forked parts removed) Xuduan (Radix Dipsaci) Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae, coarse bark removed, sliced, stir-fried) Yuliren (Semen Pruni, blanched, skin and kernel removed, stir-fried) Shu Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, baked, each 1 liang).
These fourteen ingredients are pounded, sifted, and made into a powder. Take 2 qianbi per dose, mixed with warm wine. Gradually increase to 3 qianbi, taken once before breakfast and once before dinner on an empty stomach.
To treat Kidney Wind causing immobility of the waist and legs, soreness and pain in bone joints, spasms and tightness of tendons and vessels, difficulty walking, and pulling pain in both hypochondria, use Duzhong Wan (Eucommia Pill).
Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae, coarse bark removed, sliced, stir-fried, 3 fen) Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, sprouts removed, soaked in wine, sliced, baked, 1 liang) Bixie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, slightly stir-fried, 1.5 liang) Suanzaoren (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, stir-fried, 1 liang) Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, sliced, baked, 3 fen) Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, forked parts removed, 1 liang) Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, slightly roasted, 3 fen) Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 3 fen) Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi, coarse bark removed, 0.5 liang) Yuliren (Semen Pruni, soaked in water...
