Tang Shilang's Large Xuming Decoction (Cinnamon Twig and Ephedra Decoction) is indicated for spasticity and paralysis of the hands and feet. This formula treats severe Hongxiangjiao (Gouty Arthritis/Beijia disease with upward rushing), as well as stroke presenting with four limbs blazing hot like fire, spasticity, or flaccid paralysis, with rebellious Qi rushing to the chest.
Herbs: Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 liang), Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 1 liang), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 1 liang), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 2 liang, nodes removed), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, 1 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, 3 liang), Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 1 liang), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 2 liang), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 1 liang), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, 40 seeds), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, honey-fried).
Decoct the above twelve herbs after cutting them. Boil in nine sheng of water until three sheng remain. Strain the dregs and divide into four doses. Avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum), Songcai (Brassica vegetables), raw Cong (Allium fistulosum), etc. (Same as Shen Shi Fang).
Small Xuming Decoction is used to treat Zhongdu Feng (Toxic Wind/Acute Stroke), characterized by inability to speak, sensation of obstruction in the throat, limb flaccidity or spasticity, loss of voluntary body control, mental confusion with insensitivity to pain, and stiffness preventing turning over.
Herbs: Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 3 liang, nodes removed), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang, honey-fried), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 1 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 liang), Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 2 liang), Jiangjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Seccatum, 2 fen), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 1 liang), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 fen), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, 20 seeds).
Cut the above nine herbs. Boil in nine sheng of water until one sheng remains. Strain the dregs and divide into two doses. Take concentrated decoction. Avoid wind. If not cured, repeat preparation. Contraindications are the same as above. It also treats chronic aphonia, rebellious Qi with vomiting, and edema of the face and eyes, all of which can be cured. After taking the decoction, since the constitution is often deficient, tonification should be combined. Avoid Haizao, Songcai, raw Cong, etc.
Qianjin Fengyin Tang is indicated for pain, bi-syndrome, swelling, numbness, spasticity, and inability to flex or walk due to leg issues.
Herbs: Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 2 liang, nodes removed), Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae, 1 liang), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 2 liang), Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae, 1 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 liang), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, 60 seeds), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, 3 liang), Fuling (Poria, 1 liang, crushed), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 1 liang), Fangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae, ... [text missing]).
Cut the above seventeen herbs. Boil in sixteen sheng of water until three sheng remain. Divide into three doses. Sweating is desirable. Avoid Haizao, Songcai, raw Cong, raw vegetables, peach, plum, sparrow meat, vinegar, etc.
Small Fengyin Tang is indicated for waist and leg pain and weakness due to stroke.

Take each dose at intervals equivalent to walking ten li. Avoid Haizao, Songcai, pork, cold water, vinegar, etc. (Another version lacks Jiangjiang and Shihu, but contains Guixin and Huang...).
Jinya Cizi Jiu (Gold Tooth Side-Child Wine) treats Wind-Damp Bi-syndrome with numbness and weakness preventing walking. This is an ancient common formula, newly presented here.
Herbs: Cizi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, processed), Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae), Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae), Shanzhuyu (Fructus Corni), Shuodi Gen (Radix Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae), Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae, peeled and fried), Shihu (Caulis Dendrobii, each 4 fen), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Jiangjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Seccatum, ...
