If suffering from heatstroke (Shangshu), one will inevitably experience dizziness, thirst, and aversion to heat; in severe cases, there may be excessive phlegm, feverish body sensation, and panting. The prescription is as follows:
Qinghao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba, 1 liang), Xiangru (Moslae Herba, 3 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally.
Adding Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian) is optional. One dose is sufficient for recovery.
If suffering from dampness injury (Shangshi), one will inevitably feel aversion to dampness, heaviness of the body, swelling of the feet, and scanty dark red urine. Another prescription is as follows:
Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 3 qian), Zhuling (Polyporus, 3 qian), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 5 fen), Fuling (Poria, 5 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, 1 qian), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 1 qian)... [Text truncated here].
When dryness disease (Zaobing) begins initially, there is dryness of the throat and mouth, no expectoration, incessant dry cough, redness of the face and eyes, and no aversion to wind blowing. The prescription is as follows:
Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 5 qian), Yuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 5 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 3 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Huafen (Trichosanthis Radix, 1 qian), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 3 fen), Bubu (Stemonae Radix, 8 qian)... [Text truncated here].
When fire syndrome (Huozheng) begins initially, there must be extreme thirst with a desire to drink, spots on the body, or a body temperature as hot as burning, or mania and delirious speech. The prescription is as follows:
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 3 qian), Yuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 liang), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 1 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian), Shengma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 3 qian), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 3 qian), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, 3 qian)... [Text truncated here].
One or two doses can stop the symptoms and bring peace; [three doses are sufficient for cure], four doses are not necessary.
When pathogenic factors reside between the couli (subcutaneous tissue/cuticle), diaphoretic medicines must be used to vent them. The prescription is as follows:
Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica, 1 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 1 qian), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Suye (Perillae Folium, 1 qian), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Fuling (Poria, ... qian)... [Text truncated here].
The brilliance of this prescription lies in using [Baizhu] as the sovereign drug. Because once the spleen and stomach are strong, the skin/hair and couli can open and close freely. Baizhu strengthens the spleen and removes dampness.
Once Lao disease (Consumption/Deficiency Syndrome) has formed, it is the most difficult to treat. This is because parasites must have arisen within, feeding on the person's qi and blood. If one merely tonifies qi and blood without adding anti-parasitic ingredients, then food entering the stomach will only nourish the parasites rather than generate qi and blood. [If] one only kills parasites without tonifying qi and blood, then the five zang organs will all be damaged, where would there be any vitality? Only by adding anti-parasitic ingredients amidst heavy tonification, such that yuanqi (original qi) is complete and true yang is not scattered, will the parasites die and the body become safe. The prescription is as follows:
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3 liang), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 8 liang), Dili Fen (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Amylum / Water Chestnut Powder, 8 liang), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, 1 jin, vinegar-fried), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, 5 liang), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 5 liang)... [Text truncated here].
Grind the above into powder. Make a paste from Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) powder, [mix] to form pills. Take 5 qian daily with boiling water. After half a year, the parasites will be excreted through the large intestine [ ].
