The human head is the convergence point of all Yang meridians. After childbirth, the five zang organs are all deficient. The Stomach Qi is weak, dietary intake is insufficient, and grain Qi is still lacking, leading to deficiency-heat; Yang Qi fails to remain secure and rushes upward to the head. With excess Yang and deficiency Yin, headache occurs. Additionally, one must not ignore headache caused by postpartum blood stasis (residual blood); Heilong Dan (Black Dragon Pill) discusses this in detail.

The Lung governs Qi. Due to postpartum blood deficiency, once the Lung Meridian is affected by slight pathogenic factors, coughing ensues. Whether due to Wind, Heat, Cold, or Dampness, all can cause coughing. If coughing results from consuming salt too early after childbirth, it is difficult to treat.
What causes coughing due to unsmooth postpartum Qi and Blood? The answer is: Postpartum coughing is mostly due to eating hot wheat noodles causing stagnation and poor appetite, or suffering from heat diseases, or having Qi masses. During attacks, there is chest pain,急促 breathing and coughing, alternating cold and heat in the four limbs, chest oppression and dry mouth, occasional irritability, startle palpitations during sleep, Qi deficiency, and limb weakness. It is suitable to take Zhen Heishen San (True Black Divine Powder) or Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder) from *Jufang*, decocted with dates.
