Women's diseases prioritize pregnancy and childbirth, where yin and yang intersect, and essence and qi are conceived. Thus, the Chong (Penetrating) and Ren (Conception) vessels serve as the origin for connecting to the uterus. It is also said: the Mingmen (Gate of Life) is the repository for storing essence.

When cinnabar and mercury first rise, they penetrate into the uterus; a single stem divides into two, marking the beginning of the infant's formation. In the first month, the fetus is like dew, nourished by the Shaoyang Gallbladder channel; in the second month, by the Jueyin Liver channel; in the third month, by the Juexin Pericardium channel; in the fourth month, by the Shaoyin Heart channel; in the fifth month, by the Yangming Stomach channel; in the sixth month, by the Taiyin Spleen channel; in the seventh month, by the Yangming Large Intestine channel; in the eighth month, by the Taiyin Lung channel; in the ninth month, by the Taiyang Bladder channel; and in the tenth month, by the Taiyin Kidney channel. This is how the zang-fu organs transmit essence and blood sequentially to nourish the embryo. Generally speaking, early pregnancy often involves vomiting acid or food, or craving sour foods, due to the influence of Wood Qi (Liver). Among the five viscera, only the Liver Qi tends to be excessive. Since Wood nature prefers expansion and dislikes suppression, combined with the obstruction of fetal Qi, it leads to fullness and distension in the chest and diaphragm, and aversion to food stems from this nature. Vomiting acid and craving sour foods reflect the sour taste of Wood; vomiting food and aversion to food result from Wood overcoming Earth. Gradually, as the Ministerial Fire and Sovereign Fire nourish the fetus, symptoms such as irritability and fever may appear. This is because the Heart governs Blood, and while Blood protects the fetal root, it may fail to adequately irrigate the Sea of Blood. Nourishment by the Spleen and Stomach often manifests as abdominal distension, or cases of poor appetite accompanied by swollen feet. Upon entering the months governed by the Large Intestine and Lung, symptoms of Zang Zao (Viscera Agitation) with frequent crying may occur. Although it is said that pregnancy is primarily governed by the Chong and Ren vessels, it invariably involves the Kidneys and Bladder, as both belong to Cold Water. However, during fetal nourishment, Kidney Qi has already been expended, and the infant's viscera are fully formed, leading to delivery outside the regular meridian pathways. Those skilled in regulation may administer medicinal preparations in advance to ensure maternal and fetal peace, strictly observing the suitability of meridians and Yin-Yang according to the lunar months before considering abortive drugs. Otherwise, indiscriminate use of medicines may disrupt balance. Heat may lead to miscarriage or retained products; cold may cause pain or diarrhea. Collectively, these present numerous pathologies; briefly summarized, severe cases involve Tai Lou (Fetal Leakage) or Po Sui (Membrane Rupture), while mild cases include anorexia and headache. Zi Xian (Eclampsia), Zi Xuan (Fetal Distension), and Zi Bu Yu (Fetal Mutism) are difficult conditions; Er Ti (Neonatal Crying), Er Yun (Neonatal Fainting), and Er Zhong (Neonatal Edema) are peculiar signs. Fetal Qi instability, caused by fatigue or anger, with frequent leukorrhea and diarrhea, indicates impending miscarriage or deficiency. Therefore, stabilizing the fetus is better achieved by strengthening the Spleen, as a sturdy beam prevents a bell from falling; fattening the fetus is better achieved by nourishing Blood, as deep water ensures fish remain safe. Regarding Tai Lou (Fetal Leakage), it is mostly due to Blood Heat; if the pulse is洪数 (Surging and Rapid), clearing heat and tonifying is urgent, using Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), E Jiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), and Xu Duan (Dipsacus Root). Even lifting methods can be used temporarily. If membranes rupture and amniotic fluid flows, and the pulse indicates deviation from the meridian with inevitable miscarriage, urgently using Zi Cao (Arnebia Root) to break stasis allows natural expulsion; Gui Wei (Angelica Sinensis Tail), Tao Ren (Peach Kernel), Hong Hua (Safflower), and Niu Xi (Achyranthes Root) can assist the momentum. Xiao Shi (Niter) and Da Huang (Rhubarb Root) may be selected, but avoid causing meridian depletion and thirst without expulsion, which would endanger the mother. For anorexia, diagnose the Stomach pulse's deficiency or excess. Excess requires digestion promotion and Qi regulation with Xiang Sha (Amomum and Sand Ginger), Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange), and Bai Zhu. Deficiency requires warming and tonification, benefiting the Spleen and clearing it, using Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), and Bai Shao (White Peony Root). For headache, a floating pulse indicates external contraction; a rapid pulse indicates rising Fire. Floating pulses require light dispersing agents, prohibiting Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig) and Ma Huang (Ephedra Herb); rapid pulses require suppressing and descending Fire, prohibiting Cheng Qi Tang (Order the Qi Decoction) and Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction). Zi Xian (Eclampsia) presents with the pregnant woman appearing dazed and spitting saliva; only clearing heat and stabilizing the fetus will resolve it naturally; Bing She Dan (Ice Arrow Pill) and other pills must not be used. Zi Xuan (Fetal Distension) resembles holding a urn, preventing supine lying; only breaking Qi is suitable. Zi Bu Yu (Fetal Mutism) implies inability to speak even after birth. Er Ti (Neonatal Crying) occurs when the mother raises her arms too high, causing milk leakage, as recorded by predecessors. Er Yun (Neonatal Fainting) involves maternal fainting due to maternal Qi failing to shelter the fetus; Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) and Shi Chang Pu (Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome) are effective. Although Er Zhong (Neonatal Edema) belongs to Spleen Deficiency, if accompanied by difficult urination, regulating the Spleen and promoting water metabolism using Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) and Di Fu Zi (Kochia Fruit) is appropriate. For miscellaneous diseases complicating pregnancy, distinguishing between Shang Han (Cold Damage), Nué (Malaria), and Li (Dysentery) is crucial. Treatment should focus on the miscellaneous disease while adding fetal-stabilizing herbs. If the condition is critical, sweating or purging methods may be used without hesitation regarding the pregnancy, following the classic principle "You Gu Wu Yun" (If there is a pathology, there is no harm). Adapt formulas based on changes, applying wisdom.

**Cui Sheng Fang (Labor-Inducing Formula):** Dang Gui (1 qian), Zhi Ke (1.2 qian), Kui Zi (1.5 qian), Pi Xiao (1 qian), Sheng Zhi Ma (1 pinch), Cong Bai (2 stalks). Decoct and take. Safe for ruptured membranes; contraindicated if unruptured to prevent lifelong infertility. For retained placenta, crush 1 pinch of Rapeseed Seeds, take with water; effective.

**Cui Sheng Li Ying Fang (Immediate Labor-Inducing Formula):** Effective for dystocia, transverse lie, and breech presentation. Che Qian Zi (1 liang), Dang Gui (8 qian), Dong Kui Zi, Bai Zhi, Zhi Ke, Bai Shao (3 qian each), Niu Xi, Fu Pi (2 qian), Chuan Xiong (5 qian). Decoct and take.

For one-month pregnancy, the fetal shape is like a drop of essence, condensed like dew on grass, not yet in the uterus, scattered or gathered outside, with nausea, dizziness, and loss of appetite. Pulse is floating and tight. Take this formula: Dang Gui, Bai Shao (3 qian each), Zhi Ke (4 qian), Chuan Xiong, Zi Su (2 qian each), Sha Ren (1 qian), Gan Cao (6 fen).

At two months, the fetal shape resembles peach blossoms, branching halfway to the "North Pole" (2 cun inside the vagina). The fetus enters the abdomen without membranes, causing dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting, and anorexia. Take this formula: Jie Geng, Yi Zhi, Mu Xiang, Cang Zhu, Sha Ren, Huang Qin (wine-fried, 2 qian each), Hou Po, Zi Su, Gan Cao (1 qian each), Zhi Ke (3 qian), Qing Pi (1 qian).

At three months, the fetal shape resembles a cocoon, gradually like a silkworm, large at one end and small at the other, about to enter the uterus. With weakness, nausea, and vomiting, prioritize fetal stabilization. Adjust based on weather temperature. If illness occurs within three months, use the main fetal-stabilizing formula; one dose suffices.

At four months, the fetus enters the uterus, swelling to the Dantian. Avoid rabbit, gazelle, garlic, leeks, and raw/cold foods. Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, fever, tastelessness, somnolence, dizziness, and limb soreness. Take this formula: Zi Ye (1 qian), Gan Cao, Xiao Hui Xiang, Zhi Ke (0.5 qian each), Hou Po, Xiang Fu, Sha Ren, Chen Pi, Cang Zhu (3 qian each). Decoct to 70%, take away from meals.

At five months, gender differentiation occurs. Call to the fetus while walking forward; looking left indicates male, right indicates female. Males crave sour, females crave bland. Within the womb, the fetus is stable. Modify previous formulas as needed.

At six months, muscles grow, hair develops. Males move left, females move right. Movement resembles fish swimming. Prioritize fetal stabilization for other illnesses.

At seven months, the fetus matures: eyes shine, nose breathes, ears open, mouth tastes. All parts complete. Maternal movement becomes difficult. Prioritize fetal stabilization for other illnesses.

At eight months, fetal Qi causes chest stuffiness, irritability, loss of taste, feeling like eating chaff, weakness, and Spleen/Stomach damage. Treat with Ping Wei (Peace the Stomach) and fetal stabilization.

At nine months, the fetus is in the flanks, causing significant movement, worry, stuffiness, and poor appetite. Take this formula: Yi Mu Cao (3 liang), Dang Gui, Zhi Ke, Bai Shao (4 qian each), Yi Zhi (3 qian), Sha Ren (2 qian), Chen Pi (1 qian), Gan Cao (6 fen). Decoct 2 zhong water to 1 zhong, take.

At ten months, the fetus is complete, limbs and bones open, ready for birth. Wait for natural rotation; do not rush to avoid complications. For acute backache or membrane rupture, use family secret formula: Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Bai Cao Shuang (2 qian each), Chen Pi, Xiang Fu, Zi Su (0.7 qian each), Da Fu Pi (0.5 qian), Hua Shi, San Leng, E Zhu, Sha Ren (1 qian each), Gan Jiang, Rou Gui (0.7 qian each), Wu Ling Zhi (2 qian), Yan Hu Suo (3 qian). Take three consecutive doses for spontaneous delivery without harm.
