*Suwen: Treatise on General Evaluation of Deficiency and Excess*: The Yellow Emperor asked, "When an infant suffers from febrile disease and the pulse is fine and small, what is the prognosis?" Qibo replied, "If the hands and feet are warm, there is hope for survival; if they are cold, it indicates death. When an infant contracts wind-heat, presenting with wheezing, rattling in the throat, and shoulder breathing, what should the pulse be like?" Qibo answered, "In cases of wheezing, rattling, and shoulder breathing, the pulse should be substantial and large. A slow and moderate pulse indicates survival, while a rapid and tense pulse indicates death."
*Treatises of Shenghui*: In children, the heart and lungs are often obstructed with stagnant heat. Due to maternal postpartum deficiency (jie tuo), wind pathogens invade the skin and hair, entering the zang-fu organs, leading to aversion to wind and high fever. Symptoms include chest and diaphragm oppression, dry eyes, and excessive thirst; this is termed wind-heat syndrome.
Mr. Wang of Handong's *Jiabao*: Infantile fever accompanied by frequent crying and restlessness, with a bluish complexion, is called wind-heat.
Qian Yi, discussing infants who urgently desire milk but cannot eat, stated: "This is akin to wind-heat transmitting to the umbilicus and abdomen, flowing into the Heart and Spleen meridians, resulting in a thick tongue coating and dry lips, with an inability to suckle milk. Treatment should cool the Heart and Spleen."

Grind into powder. For treating wind and convulsions, take with warm wine to reduce fever; take half a qian with boiled water every night.
*Yuanhe Jiyong Jing* Shuzhi Yin: Mainly treats various ailments in children. It dispels wind, cools the skin, resolves heat, relieves irritability, prevents sores and boils; eliminates alternating chills and fever, phlegm-saliva, red eyes, sore throat, bloody dysentery, thirst, and irritability.
It promotes muscle growth, benefits the heart and lungs, and tonifies the body. Even if sores suppurate and swell, it can heal them.
Shuzhi (Stachyuri Medullary Cortex, roasted until yellow, used alone as powder. High-quality Shuzhi comes from Yang in Longxi, which is yellow-white after roasting, sweet and pleasant; that from Baishui is cold-tonifying; that from Longxi Province is best, with reddish bark, specifically treating carbuncles and reducing swelling. That from Yuanning Yizhou is also good; the superior grade breaks like cotton without snapping.) in proportion of half, Gancao (Licorice Root) in proportion of one-quarter.
Grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi per dose, boil in one sheng of water until reduced by one-third, divide into three doses. The nature is neutral/warm; adjust dosage according to age. Another method uses five he of water per dose; the two methods differ. Currently, dosage is adjusted based on condition and age. The classics mention Siwei Yin, Heisan Wan, Zhisheng San, and Wujiapi for treatment, which cannot replace Shexiang Wan. This Shuzhi Yin is one of seven formulas, known as "Seven Treasures for Nurturing Infants." The Daoist Ziyang named his formula "Baozi Qisheng Zhibao Fang," specifically written for this book; this is that formula.
