Yueju Wan (Cross-Interrogation Pill): Treats epigastric fullness and oppression caused by various types of Qi stagnation.
Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, soaked in child's urine) Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice water, coarse skin removed, stir-fried with sesame oil) Fuxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, soaked in child's urine, each 2 liang) Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus, stir-fried with ginger juice until black) Shenqu (Medicated Leaven, stir-fried until fragrant, each 1.5 liang)
Add a few drops of water to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 100 pills per dose, washed down with plain warm water. Contraindicated in cases of Yin deficiency with excessive fire. "Yueju" implies that when a person is bent over with Qi stagnation and depression, suddenly the Qi is released and舒展 (unfolds). Xiangfu regulates Qi stagnation; Cangzhu and Chuanxiong open Dampness stagnation; Fuxiong harmonizes Blood stagnation; Shanzhi treats Fire stagnation; Shenqu resolves Food stagnation. The general principle focuses on regulating Qi. If Dampness stagnation prevails, add Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) and Fuling (Poria); if Heat stagnation prevails, add Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma); if Phlegm stagnation prevails, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) and Haishi (Fossilia Calcarea); if Food stagnation prevails, add Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) and Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus); if Blood stagnation prevails, add Taoren (Persicae Semen) and Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex); if Qi stagnation prevails, add Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Sharen (Amomi Fructus). This outlines the general principles for modification based on pathological changes.

Wuge Kuanzhong San (Five Diaphragms Mid-Jiao Widening Powder): Treats emotional stagnation causing Phlegm-Qi obstruction, leading to the formation of Five Diaphragms diseases.
Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, stir-fried with ginger juice, 2 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 1 liang) Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 5 qian) Baidoukou Ren (Cardamomi Fructus Seed, 3 qian)
Grind into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 3 slices of fresh ginger, decoct in water, add a pinch of salt, and take together with the dregs.
Dingchen Touge Tang (Cloves and Agarwood Penetrating Diaphragm Decoction)
Based on Wuge Kuanzhong San, add Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus). Decoct in water and take orally. (Another formula adds Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven), and Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus)).
Zengsun Liuqi Yin (Modified Flowing Qi Decoction): Treats various Qi stagnations and obstructions, chest and diaphragm fullness, and edema of the face and eyes.
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) Chi Fuling (Red Poria, 1 qian each) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 1 qian) Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 5 fen) Suye (Perillae Folium) Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) Binglang (Arecae Semen, remove if stool is loose)
Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) Dafupi (Arecae Pericarpium) Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 7 fen each) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 qian) Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, processed with ginger juice, 8 fen each)
Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 7 slices) Hongzao (Jujubae Fructus, 2 pieces, split open)
Decoct in water and take hot. Note: Liushiwei Liuqi Yin (Sixteen-Ingredient Flowing Qi Decoction) combines Erchen Tang with Qi-breaking herbs into a mixed formula. It is often effective when applied to common people, thus becoming a famous prescription. The Muxiang Liuqi Yin is based on and parallels Qi Qi Tang from Ju Fang and Siqi Tang from Jin Gui Yao Lue, appearing superior. However, it is also somewhat disorganized. Fenxin Liuqi Yin and Fenqi Zisu Yin are merely imitations of the flowing Qi concept, representing a decline in quality. Therefore, this text selects only Muxiang Liuqi Yin, deleting redundant elements to preserve its essence.
Baojian Muguangbinglang Wan (Treasure Mirror Wood Fragrance and Areca Nut Pill): Treats all types of stagnant Qi, causing fullness and oppression in the chest, heart, abdomen, and hypochondrium, along with difficult and unsatisfactory urination and defecation.
Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) Binglang (Arecae Semen) Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, stir-fried) Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, stir-fried) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, stir-fried) Ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma, roasted) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1 liang each)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried) Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, vinegar-fried) Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, steamed with wine) Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen, use black seeds for abdominal fullness and constipation, white seeds for wheezing and diaphragmatic obstruction, use the finest powder, 2 liang each)
Add a few drops of water to form pills the size of pea seeds. Take 30–70 pills per dose, taken after meals with ginger-infused water, stopping when bowel movement occurs. Removing Chenpi, Ezhu, Xiangfu, Huanglian, Huangbai, Dahuang, and Qianniu from this formula, and adding Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Zhaojiao (Gleditsiae Spina), and Yuliren (Pruni Semen), then forming pills with honey and taking 50 pills with ginger water, yields the Imperial Pharmacy's Muguangbinglang Wan, which specifically treats Phlegm-fullness and Wind-constipation. The Baojian version treats Qi-fullness and Heat-constipation, each having its appropriate indications.
