Reduce Gancao by half, named Shengfu Baizhu Tang. Treats wind-dampness stroke with drowsiness and confusion, abdominal pain and heaviness, flaccid limbs, spontaneous sweating, loss of voice, and incontinence. One formula uses Jiangfu Tang plus Mahuang, Baizhu, Gancao, Renshen in equal parts, named Fuzi Mahuang Tang. Treats cold-dampness stroke with dizziness and weakness, back stiffness, facial deviation, muddy voice, abdominal distension, rapid breathing, and immobility. Review these syndromes carefully before use. Danliao Fang states that Qianjin Fang treats sudden stroke with phlegm obstruction using eight liang of Shengjiang and half dose of Fuzi, both raw, consistent with Chen's Sanyin Fang using equal parts of roasted Jiang and Fu. Wang modified Ganjiang to Shengjiang and used cooked Fuzi. However, knowing this is unstable, one should follow ancient formulas. Holding both ends for trial is not appropriate. Claiming it treats cold-stroke locked jaw and yin-pattern cold damage: does one know that yin-pattern cold damage involves diarrhea without thirst, cold extremities, frequent urination, excessive sweating, and faint pulse indicating impending collapse? Taking roasted Ganjiang and Fuzi is not excessive. Now, for cold-stroke fainting with foaming, suddenly taking cooked Fuzi—how do we know the cold pathogen won't flourish due to tonification? First give Shengjiang and Fuzi; if ineffective, gradually introduce half-raw half-cooked. If the person is very deficient, then using cooked Jiang and Fu is not too late. Although this is due to Chen's lack of scrutiny and Wang's failure to clarify, how can they avoid blame?
