Shanghan Shidu Syndrome (Typhoid Fever with Food Toxicity) arises from deficiency of Spleen and Stomach Qi, leading to retention of undigested food. This is compounded by external contraction of Wind-Cold, resulting in impaired movement of the four limbs. Although the body does not exhibit significant high fever, there is constant oppression and stuffiness in the chest and heart region, accompanied by vomiting, rebellious Qi ascending, abdominal distension and fullness, dark red urine, and frequent diarrhea. Palpation reveals a tight and rapid pulse; when this presentation is found in all three positions (Cun, Guan, Chi), it confirms the syndrome. Furthermore, Shanghan combined with Shidu is what the world calls "Shanghan with retained food" (Jia Shi Shang Han). The *Jia Yi Jing* states: Pathogens arising from the Yang aspect are caused by wind, rain, cold, and heat; pathogens striking the Yin aspect are caused by diet, living conditions, yin-yang imbalance, and emotions. The root of this disease lies in labor-induced sweating followed by irregular diet, as well as consumption of cold foods and beverages. Internal and external Cold pathogens combine, presenting with slight fever, aversion to cold, chest and epigastric stuffiness, soreness and pain in the limbs, headache, vomiting with rebellious Qi, abdominal fullness, dark red urine, and frequent loose stools. Treatment should first address the interior.
