Ingredients: Huangqi/Angelica? (Text says "Huang (Qin)", likely Huangqi or Huangqin; based on context of other formulas, often Huangqi is used for lifting, but Huangqin clears heat. Given "Cangzhu, Chaihu, Lianqiao", it resembles a variation of Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang or similar. Translating literally as Huangqi/Huangqin combination or single herb depending on interpretation. Here translated as Huangqi/Huangqin (1.5 qian), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (1 qian), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) (1 qian), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian), Dangguishen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 qian). Grind the above herbs into coarse powder. Take a small amount (size of hemp seeds), decoct with two zhan of water to one zhan, remove dregs, and take warm.
Chonghe Yangwei Tang (Harmonizing and Stomach-Nourishing Decoction) (from *Shixiao Fang*, also known as Yuanyuan Neizhang Shengma Tang): Treats internal cataracts. The cause is weakness of Spleen and Stomach Yuan Qi, excessive Heart Fire and San Jiao Fire, due to long travel, irregular diet, physical exertion, and lack of rest for the Heart. This formula is highly effective.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (7 qian), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (1.5 liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (0.5 liang), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1.5 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (wine-processed), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 2 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Radix) (1.5 liang), Bai Fuling (White Poria) (3 qian). Cut the above herbs into small pieces. Take 5-6 qian each time, add three zhan of water, decoct to two zhan, add Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (each 3 qian), decoct together to one zhan, remove dregs, take slightly warm after meals.
Xiere Huanglian Tang (Heat-Draining Coptis Decoction) (from *Shixiao Fang*):
Ingredients: Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (wine-processed and stir-fried), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (wine-processed and stir-fried), Longdancao (Gentianae Radix) (wine-processed), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (wine-processed, each 3 liang), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (5 fen), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (5 fen). Cut the above herbs into small pieces. Add three zhan of water, decoct to one zhan, remove dregs, and take hot during lunchtime. Taking it in the afternoon impedes the Yang pathway; do not take it before bed as it may assist Yin pathologically.
Yiqi Congming Tang (Qi-Supplementing and Brightening Decoction) (from *Shixiao Fang*):
Treats internal cataracts, tinnitus, or years of dim vision and inability to see clearly, caused by irregular diet, physical exertion, and insufficient Spleen and Stomach function. This medicine can enlarge the field of vision. Long-term use prevents internal and external cataracts, tinnitus, and deafness. It doubles spiritual energy, benefits Yuan Qi, lightens the body, strengthens the physique, and makes ears and eyes acute.
Ingredients: Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 0.5 liang), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) (1 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) (1 qian, wine-processed, cut and stir-fried until yellow), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) (each 0.5 liang). Cut the above herbs into small pieces. Add three zhan of water, decoct to one zhan, remove dregs, and take warm. Take before bed. Taking it near the fifth watch (early morning) is better. Too much is ineffective. Remove if Spleen deficiency and Stomach weakness exist. Use less if there is heat. If there is pre-existing heat, numbness, or heat congesting the head and eyes, after taking two or three doses, the heat will be eliminated. It is miraculous for treating heaviness and pain below the waist in the elderly. Long-term use makes the upper body feel heavy but spirited, and the legs feel light and floating, unaware of height differences. If taken on an empty stomach in this manner, or if slightly more Huangbai is added, the floating sensation will decrease. To treat inverted eyelashes, remove Huangbai and Shaoyao, and avoid smoke, fire, and sour foods.
Qianghuo Tuiyi Wan (Notopterygium Nebula-Dispersing Pill) (from *Shixiao Fang*, also known as Dihuang Wan): Treats internal cataracts. Small blue-white nebula in the outer canthus of the right eye, slight white nebula in the inner canthus, headache, dilated pupil, aversion to heat in the upper body, dry and difficult bowel movements, normal urination. In hot weather or warm places, headache and eye distension occur, appetite increases; after sunset and on cloudy days, vision dims.
Ingredients: Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) (8 qian), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix) (2 qian, wine-processed), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (wine-processed), Dangguishen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (wine-processed and baked), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) (each 0.5 liang, wine-processed), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) (1 liang), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) (0.5 liang), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (3 qian), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) (1 qian, processed). Grind the above herbs into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of small mung beans. On an empty stomach, take 50-70 pills each time with plain boiled water. If digestion is incomplete, take when hungry. Avoid speaking. Follow with food to settle. Dongyuan's *Lanshi Mizang* states: If the nebula is in the outer canthus, add Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma); if in the inner canthus, add Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) and Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix).
Yuanyuan Gao (Perfect Clarity Ointment) (from *Shixiao Fang*): Treats internal cataracts with nebula formation and dilated pupils, both caused by excessive mental labor and irregular diet. This formula restores clear vision.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (5 qian), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (nodes removed, slightly pounded, 5 qian), Dangguishen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (3 qian), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) (0.5 liang), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian). Cut the above herbs into small pieces. Add three zhan of water, decoct to one zhan, remove dregs, add a little honey, and decoct again. Test by dropping into water; if it does not disperse, it is ready. Sieve the residue, weigh evenly, return to the pot to simmer further. Use as eye drops as usual.
Cangzhu Wan (Atractylodes Pill) (from *Zhushi Jiyan Fang*): Treats internal cataracts.
Ingredients: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (0.5 jin), sliced. Heidou (Glycine Max Seed) (one sheng). Boil the slices and beans in two bowls of water until dry, bake, and grind into powder. Make pills with paste. Take 30 pills each time with salted water on an empty stomach.
