According to the *Neijing* (Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor) in the chapter on Bi Syndrome, cases presenting with heat are characterized by an excess of Yang Qi and a deficiency of Yin Qi. When Yang encounters Yin, it results in Heat-Bi syndrome. This is generally due to internal stagnation and heat accumulation in the Zang-Fu organs, compounded by external contraction of Wind-Cold.
**Fangfeng Wan (Saposhnikovia Pill)**: Treats Heat-Bi.
Ingredients: Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*, peeled), Qianghuo (*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix*, radix removed), Fuling (*Poria*, woody part removed), Niuxi (*Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix*, wine-soaked and baked], Guizhi (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*, coarse bark removed), Renshen (*Ginseng Radix*), Zhike (*Aurantii Fructus*, pith and bran removed, stir-fried), Ci Shi (*Magnetitum*, roasted). The above ingredients are ground into fine powder, mixed with refined honey, and formed into pills the size of tung tree seeds.
**Shinan San (Rhododendri Daurici Powder)**: Treats Heat-Bi, characterized by extreme heat in the muscles, a sensation of insects crawling under the skin, retraction and laxity of the lips and mouth, changes in skin color, and also treats various wind disorders.
Ingredients: Shinanye (*Rhododendri Daurici Folium*, stir-fried with strong vinegar), Shanyu (*Dioscoreae Oppositae Rhizoma*, each 1 liang), Huangqi (*Astragali Radix*, cut into pieces, 3 fen), Tianxiong (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*, processed, peel and navel removed, 1 liang), Shanzhuyu (*Corni Fructus*, 1.5 liang), Zhusha (*Cinnabaris*, 1 fen, separately ground and then mixed with other powders). The ingredients are ground into powder; the separately ground Cinnabar is added and mixed uniformly.
**Shengma Tang (Cimicifugae Decoction)**: Treats Heat-Bi.
Shengma Tang treats Heat-Bi, where muscles feel extremely hot, there is a sensation of crawling under the skin, retraction and laxity of the lips and mouth, changes in skin color, and various wind disorders.
Ingredients: Shengma (*Cimicifugae Rhizoma*, 3 liang), Fushen (*Poria with Hostwood*, woody part removed), Renshen (*Ginseng Radix*), Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*), Xijiao (*Rhinocerotis Cornu*, sliced into flakes), Qianghuo (*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix*, radix removed, each 1 liang), Guanzi Gui (*Cinnamomi Cortex*, peeled, 0.5 liang). The ingredients are cut into pieces.
**Shengdihuang Tang (Rehmanniae Decoction)**: Treats Heat-Bi.
Ingredients: Shengdihuang (*Rehmanniae Radix*, crushed to extract juice), Zhuli (*Bambusae Caulis Succus*), Jingli (*Schizonepetae Caulis Succus*, each 1 sheng), Qianghuo (*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix*, radix removed, 3 liang), Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*, radix removed, 3 liang), Fuzi (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*, one piece, heavier ones selected).
[Note: The text mentions "Dihuang juice and Zhuli treat extreme heat in the abdomen caused by Heat-Bi".]
Cut turtle meat into fine pieces and boil/eat it with Wuwei Zi (*Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus*). Mild diarrhea should occur to expel all toxic vapors, relieve the dripping sensation of damp-heat in the abdomen caused by Heat-Bi, treat bloody dysuria, and dissipate internal heat accumulated in the five Zang organs.
The *Neijing* states that Wind, Cold, and Dampness mix together to cause Bi syndrome. It further states that encountering these pathogens in spring results in Jin-Bi (Tendon Bi). It also states that if Jin-Bi persists and is re-exposed to pathogens...
**Renshen San (Ginseng Powder)**: Treats Gan-Bi (Liver Bi) causing rebellious Qi, pulling pain in the chest and hypochondrium, frequent startles during sleep, and tendon spasm. It calms the Liver and expels evil.
Ingredients: Renshen (*Ginseng Radix*, 2 liang), Suanzaoren (*Ziziphi Spinosae Semen*, stir-fried), Duzhong (*Eucommiae Cortex*, peeled and stir-fried), Huangqi (*Astragali Radix*, honey-roasted), Fushen (*Poria with Hostwood*, woody part removed, each 1 liang), Wuweizi (*Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus*), Shudihuang (*Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata*). [Note: Text mentions excluding Dan Sha (Cinnabar) for this powder].
**Xixin Tang (Asari Decoction)**: Treats Gan-Bi with Qi deficiency, distension in both hypochondria, tendon spasm, difficulty breathing, weakness in the four limbs, and blurred vision.
Ingredients: Xixin (*Asari Radix et Rhizoma*, seedlings and leaves removed), Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*, peeled), Baifuling (*Poria*, black skin removed), Baiziren (*Platycladi Semen*, crushed), Shanzhuyu (*Corni Fructus*), Taoren (*Persicae Semen*, soaked in water, peel and sharp end removed, stir-fried until yellow), Gancao (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*, honey-roasted, each 2 fen), Manjingzi (*Viticis Fructus*, 0.5 liang), Mugua (*Chaenomelis Fructus*, 1 liang), Zhike (*Aurantii Fructus*, flour-stir-fried, 0.5 liang), Bibi (*Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma*), Wujiaopi (*Acanthopanacis Cortex*, each 1 liang). Cut the ingredients like hemp seeds. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1 zhan of water and 3 dates (split), boil for a few boils, strain, and take 7/10 of the liquid warm.
