The condition of "flower-like membrane" (Huayi, 花翳) growing in the eye occurs when the eye disease first manifests. Suddenly, pain erupts intermittently, and when tears flow, a white opacity (Yi, 翳) rapidly forms, resembling pearls, sunken like jujube flowers, or overlapping like fish scales.
The song states: Suddenly, white opacities cluster around the pupil, dotting like flowers, sunken and cracked like scales. The liver and lungs, along with the five zang organs, often have excess stagnation; pathogenic factors rush upward into the brain, becoming the root of the disease. Rubbing ointment on the crown of the head can remove the opacity.
