If the Heart and Lungs have diseases, the nose will function improperly. This is because the Heart and Lungs are located above the diaphragm, and the Lung opens into the nose. If Heat pathogenic factors from the Heart and Lungs become stagnant and abundant, the Qi steams into the nasal cavity, accumulating without dispersing. The manifestations include dryness and pain in the nose; in severe cases, sores form. By regulating Heart Fire and benefiting the Lung Meridian, the sores can be healed. The nose is the orifice of the Lung; therefore, when [Heat] remains stagnant and attacks upward to the nose, it causes sores inside the nose.
