Indications: Eliminates abdominal distension caused by water retention. Disperses accumulations and masses in the five Zang organs, removes Bi syndrome (obstruction), and reduces swelling. Regulates the Middle Jiao and directs rebellious Qi downward. Neutralizes the toxicity of metallic and mineral drugs. Resolves the toxicity of realgar (Shi Pi), Kansui (Shi Gansui), Aconite (Fuzi), Belamcanda (Shegan), fermented soybean (Douchi), blister beetles (Wuqing), cantharides (Bantao), and various other toxic substances.
[Heidou Zi Tang Decoction] Take 5 sheng of black soybeans [Glycine max var. sojae Semen Nigrum] and 1 dou of clear wine. Stir-fry the beans until no smoke is emitted, then immerse them in the wine. Once the wine turns purple, it is ready for consumption. Take an appropriate amount, up to three cups per day. This formula invigorates blood, dispels wind, eliminates Qi stagnation, and prevents heat. It is particularly suitable for administration two days postpartum. For stroke with lockjaw (Zhong Feng Kou Jin), add 2 sheng of chicken droppings white [Ji Shi Bai], stir-fry together with the beans, and immerse in wine.
[Another Formula] Take 1 sheng of black soybeans, stir-fry to remove the raw odor, ensuring they are not overcooked. Pound into powder, steam until vapor penetrates thoroughly. Pour 1 sheng of wine over the powder, warm and administer 1 sheng orally, aiming for sweating as the therapeutic effect. Prepare as a plaster and apply to sores to treat traumatic tetanus or stroke-related conditions.
[Heidou Tang Decoction] Take 3 he of black soybeans, 30 slices of light bamboo leaf [Luzhu Ye], and 3 qian of licorice [Gancao]. Used for poisoning from ingested toxins or spoiled food, and for fetal restlessness in women.
[Dadou Huangjuan] (Black soybeans soaked in water until sprouts reach 5 cun in length, then dried, are named Huangjuan.) Indications: Accumulation and stagnation in the stomach, accumulated heat, edema with fullness, damp-Bi syndrome. Administered with wine, three times daily. Treats Zhou Bi syndrome (where pathogenic factors reside within the blood vessels, causing pain throughout the upper and lower body without fixed points, termed Zhou Bi).
[Another Formula] Take equal parts of Dadou Huangjuan (stir-fried with vinegar) and Rhubarb [Dahuang] (stir-fried). Grind into fine powder. Administer 2 qian with decoction of scallion and tangerine peel, stopping when bowel movements become loose. Treats water disease characterized by swelling, fullness, wheezing, and difficulty in urination and defecation.
[Cixiaodou] Red adzuki bean [Vigna angularis Seed]. Indications: Promotes urination to drain dampness, disperses blood stasis, expels wind, discharges pus and blood from carbuncles, clears heat and toxicity, relieves irritability and fullness, strengthens the Spleen and Stomach, and reduces edema.
[Cixiaodou San Powder] Take 3 he of red adzuki beans (stir-fried dry, then soaked in vinegar seven times), 7 qian 5 fen each of Cimicifuga [Shengma], Coix seed [Yiren], and Astragalus [Huangqi] (chopped); 5 qian each of Ginseng [Renshen], Peucedanum [Bailian], Agastache [Qumai] spikes, and Angelica sinensis [Danggui] (chopped); and 5 qian each of Scutellaria [Huangqin], Polyporus [Zuling], Aquilaria/Patchouli [Qingmu - likely Qingpi or similar aromatic herb contextually], Saposhnikovia [Fangfeng], and Prepared Licorice [Zhigancao]. Grind into powder. Take 3 qian bi (spoonful) on an empty stomach with gruel broth, twice daily and once at night. Treats wet and dry eczema/sores.
[Another Formula] Take 1 liang each of cooked red adzuki beans and Rehmannia [Shengdihuang]; 5 qian each of Red Peony Root [Chishao], Peucedanum [Bailian], and Cinnamon Twig [Guixin]; 7 qian 5 fen each of Angelica sinensis [Danggui] (lightly stir-fried) and Scutellaria [Huangqin]. Grind into powder. Take 2 qian before meals with decoction of Sophora flower [Huaihua]. Treats hemorrhoids caused by alcohol consumption.
[Another Formula] Take 1 dou of red adzuki beans (lightly baked), grind finely. Mix with honey, scallion juice, good vinegar, or juice extracted from Chrysanthemum roots and leaves for topical application. Leave the head uncovered. Apply immediately upon onset for rapid resolution; if abscess has formed, it will suppurate and drain. Treats all kinds of unnamed swellings and toxic sores.
[Another Formula] Take a certain number of red adzuki beans, 5 qian of fresh ginger [Shengjiang], and one root of Phytolacca [Shanglu]. Crush together, boil in water until soft, discard the herbs, eat the beans on an empty stomach, and slowly drink the remaining broth. Treats water qi swelling.
For edema starting from the feet, use 1 dou of red adzuki beans, boil until extremely soft, extract 5 sheng of juice, and soak the feet and knees in the warm liquid. If the edema has entered the abdomen, consume only adzuki beans and avoid other foods; recovery will also occur.
[Chidou Danggui San Powder] Take 3 sheng of red adzuki beans, soak in water until sprouted, sun-dry, and combine with 3 liang of Angelica sinensis [Danggui]. Grind into powder.
