朱大经顿首拜书。
Xue Tianqi, an official of the Directorate of Astronomy, was over sixty years old. He suffered from bilateral testicular swelling with profuse purulent discharge, accompanied by fever and expectoration of phlegm, which persisted for several years without healing. This condition belonged to Kidney Wind Syndrome (Shen Zang Feng Zheng). After taking Sisheng San (Four Generations Powder), he recovered.
Zhai Honglu suffered from sores on his bilateral testicles, which gradually spread to his entire body. Each sore was about one cun in size, swollen with a dark color, occasionally bleeding serous fluid. He experienced expectoration of phlegm, dry throat, night sweats, irritability, and dark urine. After three months of regulation, his Yuan Qi (Original Qi) was restored.
Zhai Lizhi, the Director of Studies at Songjiang, had a habit of drinking alcohol. He developed nodules all over his body that produced white scales when scratched, more severe on the upper body. His face and eyes were swollen, forming sores with crusts, and the Chengjiang acupoint area ulcerated with pus. Using the previous pill formula along with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) and Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), he recovered. Three years later, he experienced dribbling urination and painful, obstructive urination. This indicated that Yin had become flaccid due to excessive mental desire leading to internal depletion of essence. He was treated with the previous pill formula and Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Maidong and Wuweizi, resulting in recovery.
A scholar developed nodules on his body, often appearing with red halos, accompanied by aversion to cold and fever. He mistakenly took medicines for Leprosy (Li Feng), leading to loss of eyebrows and tendon contraction. Later, the nodules gradually ulcerated, with severe fever in the late afternoon. Using Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), his Liver pulse gradually harmonized, and the afternoon fever subsided. He then took Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) added with Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), causing the chills and fever to cease abruptly. Subsequently, Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) was administered with Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis), and Muzei (Equiseti Herba). After two months of服用, all sores healed, and his eyebrows gradually regrew. The condition recurred due to anger, and he was cured using Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Blue Green Dragon Decoction) added with Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gouteng, and Muzei. Later, fatigue-induced fever occurred, and mistakenly taking cold-natured medicines caused intermittent itching and evening redness. Taking Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Wuweizi, Maidong, and Shanyao in the morning, and Jiawei Bawei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill) in the afternoon, he gradually recovered. After eating roasted or fried foods, he experienced excessive phlegm, thirst, recurrence of nodules, and turbid white urine. His Right Guan pulse was slippery, large, and forceful. He was treated with Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Zhizi, resolving all symptoms.
A man, after recovery, experienced skin itching and dry mouth desiring hot drinks. This was due to deficiency of Middle Qi failing to transform fluids to nourish the skin. Taking Qiwei Baizhu San (Seven-Ingredient Atractylodes Macrocephala Powder) in the morning led to full recovery.
Another man, after recovery, felt aversion to cold, headache, and fatigue due to exertion. I stated that the aversion to cold resulted from deficiency of Stomach Qi failing to protect the muscular exterior, while the headache resulted from deficiency of Clear Qi failing to ascend to the head. One dose of medicine led to recovery.
A man, after recovery, vomited about a bowl of phlegm every morning, with physical fatigue. This was due to Middle Jiao deficiency where Qi failed to transform food and drink. Treatment involved Renshen, Fuling (Poria), Baizhu, and Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). If Spleen Qi becomes robust and transportation continues unceasingly, phlegm will naturally disappear.
A man, after recovery, suffered from aversion to cold, dizziness, poor appetite, and fatigue. This belonged to deficiency of Middle Qi. He was treated with Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Manjingzi (Vittatenii Fructus), combined with Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Tonifying Decoction) added with Wuweizi. Recovery occurred as Blood and Qi became sufficient.
A man presented with red halos on his face, occasional swelling, and white scales upon scratching. Mistakenly taking Leprosy medicines caused internal heat and fatigue. His pulse was large and deficient, indicating deficiency of Yuan Qi and subsequent injury to Yin Blood. He was treated with Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) and Buzhong Yiqi Tang, leading to gradual recovery.
A man had red eyes all over, whole-body itching and pain, and white scales upon scratching. This indicated Liver and Lung Yin Deficiency. Mistakenly taking wind-dispelling and drying agents caused red nose and purple face, with body nodules. Using a certain decoction added with Renshen, Fuling, Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Zhizi, combined with Huanji San (Skin-Replacing Powder), each taken for over a hundred doses, and benefiting from his youth and compliance, he fully recovered.
A man, after recovery, experienced alternating chills and fever, emaciation, fatigue, and lack of taste in food. This was a transformation syndrome due to Yuan Qi deficiency. Taking Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Maidong and Wuweizi in the morning, and Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Maidong and Wuweizi in the afternoon, led to recovery.
A man suffered from whole-body itching, which later formed sores with serous discharge, aversion to cold, wrinkled skin, falling eyebrows, constipation, and scanty dark urine. This was attributed to Lung Fire. Four doses of Buqi Xierong Tang (Tonify Qi and Drain Ying Blood Decoction) gradually reduced symptoms. However, fatigue and aversion to cold remained with clear, scanty urine, indicating that pathogenic factors had left but True Qi was deficient. Combining Buzhong Yiqi Tang with Huanji San, after half a year, Yuan Qi recovered and symptoms subsided. In mid-autumn, he suddenly had loose stools, frequent urination, fatigue, poor appetite, and heavy sensation due to dampness invading deficiency. Two doses of Dongyuan Yiwei Tang (Dongyuan's Stomach-Nourishing Decoction) brought immediate relief. Continuing with previous medicines for over three months led to full recovery.
A scholar suffered from whole-body itching, scratching until pus flowed, and eyebrow loss, resembling Leprosy. Long-term use of wind-dispelling medicines damaged Yuan Qi. I used... [Text implies specific treatment based on context] to treat him.
A scholar with long-standing emotional depression initially had limbs resembling Leprosy. Strict use of wind-dispelling and detoxifying medicines further depleted Qi and Blood, spreading to the whole body with chills, fever, thirst, and fatigue. His pulse was flooding and large yet deficient. I explained: Initially, it was Spleen depression and Blood deficiency causing erratic Yin Fire; subsequently, medicines injured the Spleen and Stomach, causing sinking of Yuan Qi. Thus, Buzhong Yiqi Tang was used to tonify Spleen and Stomach and raise Yuan Qi; Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) was used to dissipate depressed fire and generate Spleen Blood; Liuwei Wan was used to benefit Kidney and Liver Essence and Blood, guiding deficient fire back to its source. Within two months, all diseases resolved.
A man had sores all over, profuse pus, afternoon fever, dry mouth, hot feet, and emaciation. Having taken various wind-sores medicines for six years without cure, his Chi pulse was flooding, rapid, and powerless. This was a Kidney Meridian sore, similar to pediatric Kidney Malnutrition (Shen Gan). Jiawei Bawei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill) was used, and he recovered in less than half a year.
Another man had sores all over, resembling scabies but not quite, with profuse pus, worse on legs, itching, irritability, and fatigue for over a year. I considered this deficiency fire of the Kidney Meridian and treated him with Jiawei Bawei Wan, leading to recovery.
A man developed nodules in autumn, which raised with red halos after two months, and discharged black blood after another month. This was caused by Wind-Fire and Blood Deficiency. First, Jiwei Qianghuo Tang (Nine-Ingredient Notopterygium Decoction) was used, followed by Buzhong Yiqi Tang and Jiawei Bawei Wan, leading to sudden recovery.
A man’s palms became thick, wrinkled, and cracked with white scales every autumn, accompanied by internal heat and fatigue. This was Liver and Spleen Blood Dryness, occurring during the Metal season. Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) was used. His arms and legs also showed thick, pale skin and numbness upon scratching, resolving only after long-term use of the previous medicine.
A man developed fever and sudden hair/eyebrow loss due to extreme anger. Hair belongs to the Kidney, and eyebrows belong to the Liver. This was due to inherent Liver-Kidney deficiency exacerbated by anger, causing Yin Fire to flourish and consume Essence and Blood. Liuwei Dihuang Wan material added with Chaihu, Zhizi, and Huangbai was used. Gradual regrowth occurred in a few doses, and complete recovery in over twenty doses.
A man suffered from whole-body itching. Taking wind-dispelling and acrid-drying medicines caused hair loss. I believed these medicines re-injured the Liver and Kidneys, causing Essence and Blood deficiency and internal blazing fire.
A man infected with a seasonal sore took Huanji San-like medicines, resulting in sudden eyebrow loss, whole-body itching, and occasional red halos. This was due to drying medicines damaging Yin Blood and Yang Qi becoming predominant. Danggui and Huangqi were used. Sores healed, and eyebrows grew back.
A man who neglected sexual restraint suddenly lost his hair, sometimes experiencing fever, aversion to cold, phlegm, dizziness, thirst, or urinary difficulty like strangury, and hot feet... [Text incomplete]. Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus) was used, resolving symptoms and promoting hair growth.
A man accustomed to rich food and wine suffered from Kidney Wind spreading to the whole body. Taking Leprosy medicines worsened the condition. Using fumigation with twisted medicines in bedding caused vomiting, abdominal distension, whole-body edema and ulceration, profuse pus, resembling death without skin.
A man with deficiency of the three Yin meridians of the foot suffered from Blood-Wind Sores. Mistakenly taking wind-dispelling and detoxifying medicines, and externally applying Cantharis and Croton seeds, caused muscle ulceration, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea with cold feet, or irritability and thirst. This was further injury to the Spleen and Stomach by medicines, leading to collapse. Declining treatment, he died within a month.
A woman had profuse pus, fever, thirst, fatigue, aversion to cold, and irregular menstruation persisting for years. This was Liver-Spleen deficiency with deficient heat. First, Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Chuanxiong and stir-fried Zhizi was used to gradually restore Yuan Qi, followed by Xiaoyao San, leading to gradual healing of sores.
A woman with a quick temper and anger, irregular menstruation, internal heat, and bitter taste, suffered from a seasonal sore. Taking defeating-toxin medicines caused profuse pus, fever, thirst, and dizziness, with evening... [Text incomplete]. Lianqiao, Lian, and Qin were used for several doses, leading to recovery. Over a year later, white spots appeared on hands, feet, and wrists, enlarging and scaling. Internal heat, night sweats, and bi-monthly menstruation occurred. Anger triggered aversion to cold, headache, anorexia, vomiting, chest/breast distension, abdominal pain, hematuria, difficult urination, or leukorrhea. These were all manifestations of Liver Wood suppressing Spleen Earth, with Yuan Qi deficiency causing transformations. Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with stir-fried black Zhizi and Jiawei Guipi Tang were taken intermittently for half a year, leading to recovery.
A woman with long-standing depression had illness in her limbs, especially wrists and ankles. Mistakenly taking defeating-toxin and cold-cooling medicines caused evening/internal heat, spontaneous and night sweats, amenorrhea, dry mouth, and dry throat. This was depressed fire injuring the Spleen. Guipi Tang was used for several doses, followed by fifty doses of Xiaoyao San, leading to recovery.
A woman presented with body resembling erysipelas, scratching until resembling Leprosy, fever, thirst, dizziness, worsening in the evening. This belonged to Liver Meridian Wind-Fire and Blood Dryness. Jiawei Xiaoyao San was used, leading to recovery.
A woman with habitual evening fever and irregular menstruation first had red, itchy palms. By autumn, palms became thick, wrinkled, and cracked with peeling skin. This was Liver-Spleen Blood Dryness. Using... [Text incomplete], it did not recur.
A woman had purple-dark patches on lower leg wrists, oozing when scratched. Using wind-dispelling and bloodletting methods for over a year led to lesions palm-sized. Taking Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix) etc., caused... [Text incomplete] Spleen Blood. First, Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Shaoyao, Chuanxiong, and Wuweizi for over ten doses; then Jiawei Xiaoyao San added with Shudi and Gouteng for over twenty doses; finally Guipi Tang added with Chuanxiong and Shudi was used, preventing recurrence.
A woman had evening itching, treated internally and externally with toxin-chasing and wind-dispelling medicines, causing profuse pus. Morning chills and afternoon fever resembled Leprosy. Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Zhizi and Gouteng, followed by Jiawei Xiaoyao San added with Chuanxiong, led to recovery.
A woman had red, itchy palms, fever, dizziness, and thirst worsening in the evening. Taking wind-dispelling and heat-clearing medicines caused red marks on skin and delayed menstruation. Using... [Text incomplete], Siwu Tang added with Renshen, Baizhu, Fuling, and Zhizi cleared the red halos.
A woman living ascetically had limbs resembling tinea or scabies, itching with discharge. Anger caused red halos. Taking wind-dispelling and defeating-toxin medicines turned halos into sores with profuse pus, evening/internal heat, sweats, amenorrhea, dry mouth/throat. This was depression injuring Spleen Blood. Guipi Tang and Xiaoyao San were used, recovering in two months.
A woman had whole-body nodules and itching, applied toxin-chasing medicines, forming sores with discharge, chills, fever, hypochondriac pain, difficult urination, and irregular menstruation. Taking wind-dispelling... [Text incomplete], Jiawei Xiaoyao San for over twenty doses gradually improved symptoms; Liuwei Wan regulated and cured. Many such cases die from taking wind medicines.
A woman, after recovery, had swollen, cracked lips, poor appetite, emaciation, worsening evening fever, delayed menstruation closing after half a year, and occasional thirst/restlessness. Specializing in regulating menstruation and lowering... [Text incomplete], Danpi, Chaihu, and Zhizi gradually improved external symptoms; Bazen Tang added with Danpi and Chaihu for over fifty doses regulated menstruation and cured all symptoms.
A child had facial edema and whole-body tinea-like rash. Half a year later, nodules appeared, purple and itchy. Applying Croton seeds broke skin, causing discharge, pain, itching, chills, and fever... [Text incomplete]. Fangfeng, Huangqin, Chaihu, Zaocetus Spina, and Gancao Jie were used to cool blood and dispel toxins, gradually reducing symptoms. Then Bazhen Tang added with Baizhu, Jingjie, Fangfeng, Zaocetus Spina, and Wujapi cured it. Later, exertion caused upper body red halos, worse in the evening, indicating Qi-Blood deficiency with fire. Siwu Tang added with Danpi, Renshen, Baizhu, and Chaihu slightly reduced it; Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with wine-fried black Huangbai and Zhimu cured it in over a month.
A child had whole-body scabies resembling Leprosy, itching or pain, emaciation, day-night fever, thirst, and loose stools for over a year. This was Liver-Spleen food accumulation and depressed fire. Luohui Wan (Aloe Pill) cured it in less than a month.
A thirteen-year-old girl, prone to anger, had whole-body itching with discharge. Chaihu, Chuanxiong, Zhizi, and Shaoyao were used to clear Liver Fire; Shengdi and Danggui... [Text incomplete]. I said: This is also excessive Liver Fire, causing Blood to move recklessly due to heat. That night, menstruation indeed arrived.
A woman with red halos like rosy clouds, itching and fever, was cured using Xiao Chaihu Tang added with Shengdi, Lianqiao, and Danpi. Generally, girls before menarche and women with irregular menstruation, when startled or angered, often have this symptom.
A fifteen-year-old boy had whole-body scabies resembling Leprosy, profuse pus, evening fever, thirst, and emaciation for four years. This was Kidney Malnutrition (Shen Gan). Jiawei Bawei Wan cured him.
Han’s son, aged fourteen, lost his innate vitality early. Face was red and swollen like wind, recurring intermittently. Mistakenly taking Leprosy medicines caused internal deficiency fever, dry mouth, and irritability... [Text incomplete], self-descending. Tonifying the root causes the branch to retreat. Da Jing received instruction, using Sijun Zi Tang added with Renshen and Fuling for forty doses; then made into pills, taking over a jin, recovered in less than two months. Treating from excess would be erroneous. Respectfully recorded and submitted, requesting attachment to medical cases to benefit future patients. Disciple Zhu Dajing bows respectfully, Mid-Spring of Dingwei Year, Jiajing Era.
