If the patient has sweating only on the head and no other external symptoms, but feels heaviness in the lower body, it can be known that the upper part of the waist is harmonious, while edema and swelling of the yin organs should occur below the waist, making flexion and extension difficult. Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix) is indicated. If abdominal pain is present, add Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix). Fengshui (Wind-water syndrome) characterized by aversion to wind, generalized edema, floating pulse, absence of thirst, continuous spontaneous sweating without high fever is treated with Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Gancao (Liquorice Root), and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma).

At the onset of water disease, swelling first appears above the eyes, resembling a silkworm in sleep; the carotid pulse throbs, the inner thighs feel cold, the calves are full, pressing leaves an indentation, and there is a splashing sound when turning the body in bed. These are its signs. If not treated immediately, the condition may gradually worsen. Tinglizi Wan (Descurainiae Semen/Papaveris Semen Pill) treats body and facial edema as well as abdominal distension causing distress and hindering diet.

Zhangliu San (Celtis Sinensis Powder) eliminates various types of edema.

Huangqi Wuliang Tang (Astragalus Five-Tael Decoction) treats Huanghan (Yellow Sweat). The pulse is deep and slow; the body is hot; the chest is full; the four limbs and head/face are swollen. If prolonged, it inevitably leads to carbuncles and pus; the chest feels obstructed, preventing eating; there is restlessness and insomnia. This is Huanghan disease. A characteristic of Huanghan is that the calves feel cold on their own; if fever occurs, it belongs to Lijie (Joint Bi) syndrome. Sweating after meals with bodily irritability; night sweats followed by fever upon waking; prolonged fever leading to swelling; unceasing fever generating foul sores; heaviness relieved by sweating leading to chest pain over time; sweating above the waist but none below, with flaccid pain in the waist as if something were in the skin; severe cases unable to eat, with body ache, heaviness, restlessness, and difficulty urinating without sweat.

Huangqi Guizhi Kujiu Tang (Astragalus, Cinnamon Twig, and Bitter Wine Decoction): Huanghan disease presents with body swelling, fever, sweating with thirst, resembling Fengshui; sweat stains clothes yellow like cypress juice; the pulse is naturally deep. This results from water qi entering through sweat pores and transforming into yellow fluid.

Dream prescription for Feiwuxian Feng's water qi treatment on the night of August 12, Gengxu year: For every three seeds of Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen), one seed of Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus); for every ten seeds of Hujiao, one scorpion slightly larger than a cardamom seed mixed with Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix). Pulverize these, mix with rice paste boiled in water, and form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take ten pills before bed with Chenpi Tang (Tangerine Peel Decoction). It is effective when taken together with Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) cooked with Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean). In the following year... Shenzhang Gao (Divine Palm Ointment) treats ten types of water qi.

Shehuang Bingzi (Snake Yellow Cake) follows the Medicine King's water treatment formula.

Dazao Xingren Wan (Jujube and Apricot Seed Pill): Cui Shi's treatment for Da Fu Shui Bing (Abdominal Water Disease) with body swelling, rebellious qi, scanty dark urine, deep umbilicus, two prominent pulses on the neck, thick saliva, and insomnia. If swelling starts in the face/head with constipation, this pill is excellent. Do not use if there is prior diarrhea, protruding umbilicus, massive abdominal distension, and flat palms.

Xianshui San (Sink-Water Powder) treats severe ten-type water qi starting from the feet and entering the abdomen, with unbearable symptoms.

Zhushui San (Water-Expelling Powder) reduces swelling and fullness.

Dayou San (Soybean Powder) resolves stagnant qi and removes dampness.

Xiangru Wan (Elsholtzia Pill) treats acute water wind edema or generalized swelling from water trapped in sores.

Sangpi Dou Fa (Mulberry Bark and Bean Method) treats mild edema with difficulty in urination.

Wanjinsan (Ten-Thousand-Gold Powder) treats ten types of water qi in men and women.

Shiyang Jiu (Quartz Wine) treats Shishui (Stone Water).

Shanglu Zhushui San (Meadowsweet Root Water-Expelling Powder) treats water qi.

Dayou Jian (Soybean Decoction) treats long-standing or recent swelling in women due to evil wind-cold entering the abdomen, postpartum exposure to cold winds invading the viscera, abdominal tension like a whip, shortness of breath, and cough.

Water qi extending to the four limbs with swelling is called water qi; swelling confined to the abdomen alone is Gu Du (Gu Poison), not water qi. Use Pengjing Cao (Polygala Tenuifolia Root? *Note: Text implies a specific regional herb*) from Qinlong and Western Tibet, resembling a small tree. Remove bark and branches, pulverize finely, take half a qianbi with warm rice drink on an empty stomach. Profuse diarrhea occurs, clearing both bowels and bladder, bringing relief, then follow with spleen-warming foods. Avoid anger, raw/cold food, salty/hard/wet noodles/rice porridge, and salt. Abstain from desires. Great efficacy. This formula was obtained from a foreign monk from the West.

Treatment for Shishui (Stone Water) formula (Ten Waters Tinglizi San etc., pulse deep, tight, rapid): Sun Zhao diagnosed Qian Fangyu of Daizhou. Pulse was deep, tight, rapid, six beats per breath. External signs: swelling under eyes, swelling at nasal tip, purple lips, massive abdominal swelling from the heart downwards.

Treatment for Fengshui method: A fifteen-year-old boy suffered from floating body swelling, frequent loose stools, undigested food. This became Fengshui disease. Treat with Yebipi Jia Zhu Tang (Ma Huang Decoction plus Atractylodes) or concurrently with Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria).

Xiaoyin Baizhu Jian (Spleen-Strengthening Decoction) treats Zhiyin (Branching Fluid) with rebellious qi preventing lying down, body swelling/fullness, and difficulty urinating.

Sanleng Wan (Curcuma Pill) treats Bladder Qi pain in both hypochondria, generalized deficiency swelling resembling water qi. Regularly treats Large/Small Intestine Qi and women's Blood Qi disorders.

Shuiyin Dan (Mercury Pill) treats water qi.

Baizhu Tang (Atractylodes Decoction).

Nifen Huashi Wan (Calomel and Talcum Pill) treats water qi.

Hanfangji San (Isatis Root Powder? *Note: Hanfangji usually Stephaniae Tetrandrae*) treats Deficiency Consumption with generalized limb edema,急促 panting, difficulty urinating, and restlessness in sitting/lying.

Jingsanleng Wan (Peking Curcuma Pill) treats head, face, hand, and foot swelling in men and women.

Wupi San (Five-Bark Powder) treats complete swelling of the head, eyes, and four limbs.
