In the *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold), regarding the pathogenic qi of wind-toxin entering the human body, the pulse can be categorized into three types. The internal and external symptoms are similar, but the pulses differ. If the pulse is floating, large, and slow, it is appropriate to administer Xuming Tang (Cure-all Decoction) for two doses, which should lead to recovery. If wind pathogens are predominant, Yuebi Tang (Yuebi Decoction) with four liang of Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) should be used. If the pulse is floating, large, and tight, and the condition changes rapidly, Zhuli Tang (Bamboo Juice Decoction) is appropriate. If the patient's pulse differs from this, the bamboo juice in this decoction should be taken in larger quantities; however, if the liquid is not sufficiently hot, it may stagnate in the chest and heart region, causing further harm. Each dose must be ensured to be extremely hot. If bowel movement occurs after taking Zhuli Tang, the effect will certainly be excellent. If three doses of Zhuli Tang have been taken without alleviation of the disease or pulse momentum, and abdominal distension and fullness occur, Dabiejia Tang (Large Soft-shell Turtle Decoction) can be used to purge. If the decoction's efficacy has exhausted but defecation still does not occur, pill medicines can be used to assist the decoction to induce evacuation. After evacuation, Zhuli Tang should be taken again to hasten the calming of the pulse momentum. Once the breath is regulated and stable, medication can be stopped. At this point, taking San'ershiwu Bafeng San (Thirty-Two-Ingredient Eight-Wind Powder) is preferable. Additionally, at the onset of the disease, apply Yege Gao (Wild Kadsura Obovata Plaster) twice daily until stubborn numbness and leg weakness are completely cured, then stop. If Zhuli Tang is taken and the pulse momentum returns to normal as before illness, and physical strength increases, but the legs still cannot walk, once physical energy is sufficient, gradually begin slight walking exercises. For severe cases, patients may only be able to walk with support six months after recovery. Since the pulse and internal conditions have improved, one should diligently take Bafeng San (Eight-Wind Powder). Do not lightly add other therapies just because the feet cannot yet walk; other therapies may not be beneficial and could generate various adverse conditions, losing the benefits of these treatments. Common people should also avoid using Yege Gao. Some people hear of Zhuli Tang and claim it might damage the waist and legs; such individuals should not be treated. One should understand this method: some people cannot tolerate this nature of medicine, so they cannot be cured. This refers to not explaining this to those who harbor doubts. There are three formulas for Zhuli Tang. For mild cases, take the first formula; for severe cases, take the subsequent formulas in sequence. This wind-toxin can easily transmit and infect others. It is advisable to prepare Xiaojinya San (Small Golden Tooth Powder) for vacant times, applying a small amount to the nostrils and ear gates. Those in critical condition and those who have recently died are prone to being possessed by evil spirits; robust individuals should take it. It can also be applied to the nose and ears, allowing one to approach the deceased or visit the sick. Carry one cun-bi (a measure of volume) of this powder in a crimson silk pouch, worn on the left arm for men and the right arm for women. This powder detoxifies and should be taken starting from a small dose. (The Jinya San formula is in Volume 12.)
Patients should only take Chixiaodou Yin (Red Bean Drink) and take Cizi Jinya Jiu (Side-substance Golden Tooth Wine) in winter. Xuming Tang treats early-stage wind-toxin disease, which resembles Tianxing Du Bing (Epidemic Toxin Disease), but the pulse is floating and slow... [text missing] ...therefore not... [text missing].
The first Zhuli Tang treats numbness and weakness in both legs, or muscle twitching, insensitivity of skin and flesh, swelling like edema that does not indent upon pressure, mental distress, loss of appetite, or cold bi syndrome.
Gancao (Licoriae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 liang, honey-fried) Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, 1 liang) Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 1 liang) Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 2 pieces, processed) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 1 liang, nodes removed) Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix, 1 liang) Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 50 seeds) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 1.5 liang) Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 1 liang) Fuling (Poria, 3 liang) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang) Zhuli (Bambusae Succus, 5 sheng) Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 1 liang) Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 1 liang)
Cut the above fifteen ingredients. Add seven sheng of water and five sheng of bamboo juice, boil to obtain three sheng, divide into three doses, aiming for sweating. Avoid seaweed, songcai (Chinese cabbage), pork, vinegar foods, raw vegetables, and raw green onions. (*Yi Fang* lacks Fuling and has Baizhu instead of Xingren.)
The second major Zhuli Tang treats sudden stroke, stuttering inability to speak, flaccid paralysis or hemiplegia of the four limbs, spasms and gouty pain,恍惚 (fluctuation) of the five zang organs, irregular anger, and involuntary movements of hands and feet.
Zhuli (Bambusae Succus, 14 sheng) Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, 2 liang) Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 2 liang) Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 2 liang) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 2 liang) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 1 liang, nodes removed) Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 2 liang) Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 2 liang) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 3 liang) Yinyu (Coscinii Caulis, 2 liang) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang) Fuling (Poria, 3 liang) Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix, 1 liang) Wutou (Aconiti Radix, 1 piece)... Gancao (Licoriae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, honey-fried)
Cut the above nineteen ingredients. Boil with bamboo juice to obtain four sheng, divide into six doses. For those not yet sweating, aim for sweating; take when symptoms match. Avoidances are the same. (*Yi Fang* lacks...)
The third Zhuli Tang treats wind-toxin invading the five internal organs, shortness of breath, irritability and heat in the epigastrium, painful heat in hands and feet, inability to raise the limbs, insensitivity of skin and flesh, lockjaw and inability to speak.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 liang) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 3 liang) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 8 liang) Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 3 liang) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 2 liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 2 liang) Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 2 liang) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang) Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 2 liang) Fuling (Poria, 3 liang) Gancao (Licoriae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, honey-fried) Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 2 pieces, processed) Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, 3 liang) Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 5 liang) Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 2 liang) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 2 liang, nodes removed) Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 1 liang, sweat-treated)
Cut the above seventeen ingredients. Boil with sweet bamboo juice (one jiu nine sheng) to obtain four sheng, divide into five doses. Avoidances are the same. (*Yi Fang* has Shaoyao, Fushen, Fangji, Tongcao; lacks Fuling, Huangqin, Xiong, Shengma, Shujiao, Mahuang, Shengjiang; see Volume 7.)
*Qianjin Yi Fang* treats Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji) by frequently making Baipi Zhou (White Bark Porridge) as a preventive method. Formula for non-onset:
Baipi (White Bark, cut 5 sheng, fried, do not use spotted ones as they are toxic)
One ingredient. Boil in ten and a half sheng of water to obtain seven sheng, remove dregs, cook rice porridge and eat regularly. (From Volume 16)
Cui Shi treats Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji); in summer, one must eat melon and melon drink. Formula:
Shenggua (Fresh Melon, one piece, remove stem, break into four, boil in five sheng of water until soft, remove dregs) Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 2 liang) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 1 liang)
Cut the above three ingredients (two items). Boil the previous juice to obtain two sheng, remove dregs, divide into three doses. Forbidden: peaches, plums, sparrow meat, etc. (Shenggua is likely Mu Gua/Papaya; From Volume 6)
Another formula for Hongjiaojiao toxin spreading internally and externally, with irritability, heat, and mouth ulcers:
Take Zixue (Purple Snow). Robust adults take size of two dates, weaker persons reduce dosage. Mix with water and take. It should promote the discharge of heat toxins. If previously taking stone medicines caused fever and toxicity oppression, taking this is miraculous, superior to Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) by ten doses. (Same as *Beiji*)
Another formula for cold distension and toxicity oppression:
Take Jinya San (Golden Tooth Powder). Take with water like a peach/plum pit size, mix with powder like a date pit size and take. For sudden onset, inducing purgation or vomiting, one dose of four fen-bi is effective as if by magic. (Same as *Beiji*, From Volume 9)
*Bixiao Fang* treats Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji):
Cangerzi (Xanthii Fructus, 5 sheng) Chixiaodou (Phaseoli Rubri Semens, 2 sheng) Yan (Salt, 1 jin)
Three ingredients. Boil in fifteen dan of water over low fire to obtain five or six dou, remove dregs, store separately taking half dou... [text missing] ...soak... [text missing]

Another formula:
Ban Xiaren (Half Pinellia Tuber, 3 liang, clean peeled) Shengjiang Zhi (Fresh Ginger Juice, 3 sheng)
Two ingredients. Boil in five sheng of water to obtain two sheng, remove dregs. Take on an empty stomach in one dose. One dose daily, three doses will cure. Forbidden: mutton and malt sugar. This formula comes from Duke Liang's family, authentic and miraculous. (From Volume 3)
Su Gong says: For all Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji) patients, eat freely and fully in the morning, eat less in the afternoon, and best not to eat at night. If hungry, eat Dou Chi Zhou (Fermented Soybean Porridge). If "ming xuan" (medication reaction) does not subside, or eating indigestible food causes Huoluan (cholera-like disorder) and tendon twitching, fewer than one in ten survives. Formula for late-night indigestion threatening Huoluan:
Gaoliangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, 1 liang, crushed)
One ingredient. Boil in three sheng of water to obtain one sheng. Take all at once to digest. Wait until very hungry, then eat one bowl of thin porridge. Drinking this medicine thoroughly is best. If... [text missing] ...verify... [text missing]
Another formula if one feels Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji) approaching:
Suan (Garlic, 3 sheng, remove heart, cut, fry until yellow) Taoren (Peach Kernel, 1 sheng, remove skin and pointed ends, fry until purple) Chi (Fermented Soybean, 1 large sheng, fry until fragrant)
Mix the above three ingredients. Place in a raw silk bag, soak in one dou of fine wine. Summer: three days; Winter: seven days. Initial dose: half sheng, gradually increase to two sheng. Adjust as needed. If finished, add five dou more fine wine to soak and drink. Adding one or two he of pepper is especially good.
Another formula:
Xiang Chi (Fragrant Fermented Soybean, 1 sheng) and Ren Xiao (Human Urine, 1 sheng) soaked together briefly until thick color forms. Remove dregs. Take on an empty stomach at dawn. Stop every three days, resume after three days. Take until cured.
Also, Zixue (Purple Snow) treats Hongjiaojiao toxin spreading internally and externally, irritability, heat, mouth ulcers, mania and running away, and resolves heat toxicity from various stone and herb medicines, sudden yellowing from evil heat, etc. Hundred diseases... [text missing]

Thirteen ingredients. Boil in one hu of water. First boil the five mineral/stone medicines to obtain four dou, remove dregs. Then add the eight remaining ingredients, boil to obtain one dou five sheng, remove dregs. Add Suxiao (Natrii Nitras, 4 sheng; Mangxiao/Natrii Sulfas is also acceptable). *Jinxiao Fang* treats Hongjiaojiao (Foot Qi/Jia Ji):
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 5 liang, processed) Gancao (Licoriae Radix et Rhizoma, 5 liang, heavily fried)
Two ingredients, finely cut. Boil in five dou of water to obtain two dou five sheng. Place in a basin. Place a board three inches wide across the soup, level with the water surface.
